The Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets - Grum, Zaku, The Deeplurker, Plus Fire And Regret
Greetings Splinterlands Summoners! It's time to try new dynamic strategies, fueled by rage and sparks of rebellion. Let's enjoy the Fire & Regret ruleset, where all units will receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle.
Those using ranged attacks receive damage back, equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2 and then rounded up. It's getting even better, as the ranged attack units with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.
The Amplify ability increases damage, and can tip the balance in your favor. The rule sets a clear expectation, that no ranged units will be selected for the battle. Simple tactic for this one ... don't use ranger units!
But what if I play against the rule and use ranged monsters with Martyr for an weird combo?
I can use ranged units with the Martyr ability and speed up their death with Return Damage! Once they die will give adjacent units +1 to all stats and boost the team towards victory!
The Venari Marksrats spend more time in the forests than they do underground, busy hunting and foraging. They are the main food gatherers for the venari colonies that inhabit the upperdark caverns of the Realm of Silence. They are incredibly agile and have honed their hunting skills to perfection.
Don't be fooled by their unrefined look as the skilled archers can still hit a fleeing rabbit at a hundred yards with precision. They hunt alone or in packs, and if you ever manage to spot one, you can guarantee they saw you first and have been watching you for some time.
Purge by fire or cleanse by water? The strategy was deflated by the low mana cap, as 12 mana is not enough to make a decent team. I am stubborn and I decided to still give it a try! Was a bad idea!
Tarsa: +1 Health & +1 Melee damage
Tenyii Striker: Melee with Sneak
Venari Marksrat: Ranged with Martyr
I had to face a Water splinter team with a chicken and a Djinn! Sounds like a dad joke but this wasn't winner... winner ... chicken dinner!
My moral boost was gone! Took the chicken out, the Marksrat got damage back but then missed the hit on Djinn Oshannus ... and you can't afford missing an attack in such close battles!
Tenyii Stiker down at 1 health and no chance for the Venari to go kamikaze! What went wrong? The low mana cap ruined my plan and I wasn't able to create a team that will survive enough for the Martyr to happen! See the full battle here!
Luckily enough I didn't had to wait 20-30 matches before I enjoyed Fire and Regret again. Few battle later the battle-rule made a cameo, and I prepared a better strategy.
However, do you know that feeling when you see the opponent's team and you know you will lose? The gods of random matched me unfairly with Zaku, probably the best summoner in the game.
The bad omen was amplified by Grum Flameblade, the Garosh Hellscream of the game. Zaku will boost his units with Blast, one health and one ranged damage... it will be carnage!
Kelya Frendul: +1 Armor & +1 Speed
Torhilo The Frozen: Melee Tank with Void
Flying Squid: Melee with Reach
Djinn Osannus: Caster with VOid
Demented Shark: Melee with Inspire
Deeplurker: Melee with Opportunity
Pelacor Bandit: Melee with Flying & Sneak
I was facing an overpowered team of melee and ranged units, and every single attack will blast around. The three rangers will receive damage after they will attack, so this gave me a glimmer of hope.
I discovered something new! The ranged units received damage back from the main attack... and also from the blast damage! Torhilo and the Flying Squid were taken on target, and both returned a plethora of damage.
The first round was just the warm-up, with those scary opponents getting ready to take down my units with blasting arrows. The only causality was the enemy's Radiated Scorcher, but Torhilo was down to one health and weakened!
Weird stuff! The Spark Pixies ranged attack took down both Torhilo and the Flying Squid, but the return fire from them took the fire elemental down. Fire and Regret!
The Scavo Firebolt missed his attack, and this was the reason why he survived. We entered the third round ablaze, with both team going berserks.
The Scavo Firebolt was devoured by the Deeplurker, and Grum missed a killing blow on Djinn Oshannus! A glimmer of hope!
The Lava Launcher didn't miss, and his attack eliminated two of my monsters. Both Oshannus and the Demented Shark fell, but what goes round comes around. Cry me a river Lava Launcher, because Justin was right! The return fire from my dead units were enough to send the goblin device to the scrapyard.
Grum may be brutal, but he lacks accuracy! The Deeplurker's higher speed made him elusive, and Grum's massive blade missed the monstrous fish!
Grum didn't missed his second opportunity, but the Deeplurker retaliated with fury and ill intents. Third time lucky... but not for Grum! The Deeplurker had a strong bite and the orc met his demise.
The Ferox Defender missed his first attack, then landed his second. The tiny blast was enough to eliminate the Pelacor Bandit.
All the events from this battle, all the blasts, and missed attacks, and returned damage... led to this singularity! Defender v Deeplurker! The final countdown! See the full battle here!
