The Splinterlands Are Shaking! New Cards, New Abilities And New Dynamics

Calling all Splinterlands brave adventurers! It's finally time to raise your banners and light up the digital realms with adventures and remarkable bounties! The new season started and there's much to talk about!

I will take you on a journey, sharing my tales of triumph and we'll cherished the good memories together. Join me in commemorating remarkable milestone and a top review of the new reward cards!

Are you primed and ready to make waves in the Splinterlands world? The new cards are coming with new abilities that will shake the gameplay! Are you ready battle mage? Are your ready to enhance your gameplay?

Let's gear up, polish our weapons and go earn some Glint! What's Glint? The new currency for ranked play, which can be used in the shop to buy all kind of stuff.

The Glint farming is going well so far! Doing between 12,000 and 15,000 per season, and using it to claim rewards!

But what if you are new to the game, just bought your spellbook, and you're not earning that much? How can you improve quickly and climb through the ranks? This is where 1-click rentals come to the rescue!

What about 1-Click Set Rentals! Splinterlands introduced the ability to list a set of cards for seasonal rental! Currently, there is a template of Chaos Legion Core and Reward cards available, which will be presented to new users after they purchase their Spellbook.

Where to find the sets? Go to the Market icon to click the Set Rentals tab, or use the Items icon to click the Card Sets tab.

Let's talk about conflicts and Tofu? Tofu is the newest summoner that the Battle Mages can earn through Conflicts! The faithful feline is Faust's cat, an awakened tabby of supreme intelligence!

When Ahna-Chei fell to the demons of the Chaos Empire, Faust fled into the Bog of Wails. No fan of swamps, his felines scattered to drier pastures. Tofu, Miso, and Nori made their way to the Republic of Fireboro, where they've hatched a plan to restore their master as the rightful ruler of the Dark Eternals.

But the hottest topic now is the rewards card update! News is spreading like wildfire across Praetoria: the Order of the Scale, the engimatic organization that runs the Arena Games, is releasing a brand new set of reward cards to accompany the Rebellion set!

At the start of the season on Thursday, August 15th, you can use Glint to obtain these new soulbound cards from rarity draws and loot chests in your local Reward Shop.

Meanwhile, Chaos Legion soulbound reward cards will go out of print and no longer be available in the Reward Shop. Instead, you'll be able to UNBIND them.

The cards that have been fully unbound may be purchased, sold, rented, traded, delegated, or even used as workers on land. This are great news for all, and I am getting goosebumps only watching the stats of the new set!

What's coming? The Rebellion's reward card expansion will be the same size as Chaos Legion's: 12 common cards, 12 rare cards, 7 epic cards, and 12 Legendary cards!

The new 43 cards are quite bad-ass, and some come with four new abilities sure to shake up the meta. Are you ready for Mimic, Corrupted Healing, Execute and Wingbreak?

  • Mimic: At the beginning of round 2 and each following round, gain a random ability from the enemy team. 25% chance to gain a random ability from an attacker when hit. Dispel removes one mimicked ability in the order they were gained. Debilitations, Targeting abilities, Ambush, Weapons Training, Flank, Reach, Charge, and Taunt cannot be mimicked.

  • Corrupted Healing: Each round, restore 1/3 of max health to allied units, rounded down. Each time a unit is healed, its max health is reduced by 1.

  • Execute: If the target has 2 or less health after a successful attack, perform another attack against the same unit.

  • Wingbreak: Always targets enemy units with Flying first regardless of abilities or rulesets. +2 damage if the target has Flying.

More Alpha? With the Rebellion reward cards, they are introducing Debilitations, which damage or inflict negative status effects on allies instead of enemies.

Cards with Debilitations generally have higher stats for their mana cost; you'll have decide if the drawback is worth the extra punch they pack.

  • Incendiary: Reapplies Burning at the beginning of each round. Burning has a 33% chance to spread to adjacent units at the beginning of each round, then all Burning units lose 2 health. Burning can be cleansed.

  • Electrified: Deals 1 damage to all allied units at the beginning of each round.

  • Weary: Each round, Weary units have a 10% chance to become Exhausted. This chance increases by 10% every round, up to a maximum of 80%. Exhausted units skip their turn and cannot Retaliate.

Initially, Rebellion reward cards will be soulbound and they can only be found via rarity draws and loot chests in your local Reward Shop. But, like Chaos Legion's soulbound reward cards, you'll be able to unbind them when they go out of print.

With the new updates, you will be able to unbind your older reward cards! When Rebellion's reward cards are released on August 15th, you'll be able to unbind your Chaos Legion soulbound reward cards.

Once unbound, these cards can be bought, sold, rented, traded, delegated, and used on land.For the first 29 days, it will cost 10 times a card's power-per-BCX in Dark Energy Crystals (DEC) to unbind it.

Additionally, every 30 days, the price to unbind a card will increase by a multiple of one. After 180 days, Chaos Legion reward cards will no longer be unbindable and will be permanently soulbound.

Rather than flooding the market with a deluge of cheap cards, unbinding costs are comparable to the current market value of most Rebellion cards.

Note that all DEC spent to unbind cards will be permanently burned and removed from the circulating supply.

The Rebellion reward cards are an exciting new expansion that introduces whole new levels of strategy and depths of lore to the Splinterlands. We can't wait to get my hands on them. The artwork is beautiful and the lore builds on the core set and Conflicts. LFG!

The new cards are looking pumped, and was about time to find an alternative to the mighty Alvar! He was my prime tank in so many battles, and never disappointed me!

Alvar is ruthless warrior that reshaped his mind and his body until he had no equal on the battlefield. He is ready to shatter shields and break arrows, as his Void Armor will make the difference.

Legionnaire Alvar is probably the best tank in the game, until the new reward cards will drop! He has 14 cumulated points of health and armor, and will gain Giant Killer at level two, Demoralize at level three and Deathblow at maximal level.

Legionnaire Alvar will break bones and arrows, sentencing to death anyone who will defy the Chaos Empire!

There are two ways to prepare the battle, either against overpowered melee or against deadly spells. Alvar is a good option in both scenarios. 

The 38-mana pool gave some freedom in team selection, and the two battle-rules made it easier. There will be no ranged units, and the Super-Sneak rule will favorize melee fighters more than spell-casters. So I decided to prepare for a bar brawl, with fists and broken chairs.

Serpent of Eld: Melee with Dodge

Hardy Stonefish: Melee

I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was relieved when I seen that Djinn Oshanus was the only caster in the opponent's team. The set-up was similar, with the Demented Shark inspiring the Coastal Sentry, and the Albatross used as a decoy.

You expect those flying pests to avoid some damage, but neither of them was able to dodge the attacks. We both lost our pesky bird, and the battle was moving into the next chapter. I lost my Hardy Stonefish just before the round ended, but at least the Serpent of Eld dodged an attack! 

My concern was that the Diemonshark will start killing my units, and the Trample will do extra damage! The Coastal Sentry done the job and acted as an instant stress relief pill when she took down the demonic fish. Maybe was a smarter move if the Hardy Stonefish was shielding the Diemonshark as my one shielded the Serpent of Eld?

The "Hit and Miss" Festival started with the Serpent of Eld dodging one of the two attacks from the Coastal Sentry, and then with Legionnaire Alvar and his failed attack against Djinn Oshannus. Still time for another missed hit? The Serpent of Eld dodged his third attack during today's show, as he done an evasive maneuver when the Demented Shark tried to bite! 

You know that the Chaos Empire twisted the mind of it's servants when Costal Sentry fights another Coastal Sentry. This time I was on the right side of the blade, as my nymph slashed twice against her own kind. Shark v Shark followed, plus a forth dodged attack by the Serpent of Eld! 

What worked well so far? Alvar's Void Armor helped him to face the mighty Djinn Oshannus, and the Serpent of Eld dodged so many attacks that made the enemies lose their confidence. 

Also the Coastal Sentry with extra melee damage was lethal, as that double strike was making sushi rolls out of sea creatures. Oshannus tried his best, dealing damage and avoiding some strikes, but couldn't avoid his demise! The Serpent of Eld took the glory... delivering the final blow! See the full battle here!
