The Social Media Universe Is Too Big For BCH Powered Platforms

14 97

I came across an interesting review of the Social Media Universe, and I realized that the BCH powered platforms are too small and limited. One after each other, noise.cash, read.cash, noise.app and cashrain didn't managed to have a breakthrough when it comes to utility.

The Meta Galaxy (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp) are true titans in the Social Media Universe, with competition from LinkedIn, Youtube or WeChat. The scale of Meta’s platforms are dominate thanks to their global reach, but there are a number of smaller projects gaining market shares.

I am going Beast Mode in 2023 and some of the things that kept me busy last year will not make the cut. I am sentimental and I find it difficult to quit, but it feels pointless to try to educate people about crypto and blockchain when no one reads me. The truth is that once the free money stopped, the hype was gone.

Facebook has 2.9 billion users, followed by Youtube with 2.3 billion, then three more Meta Platforms are filling the Top 5. YouTube is the only true competitor for Meta's reach, and one of the platforms that embraced the creator economy.

None of noise.cash or noise.app managed to rejuvenate the BCH community, even if the innovating tools brought an onwards movement. I honestly like the way noise.app filled the gap, but it's hard to keep posting crypto staff when the focus is more on flowers and trees pictures.

The same goes for read.cash, where I kept posting every day even if Rusty retired for months. I said I will write until my last fan will give up, but it looks like I am alone in this ghost town.

This is not a good-bye, as I don't quit. This is just a "you will see me less often, or maybe not at all"! Is it the same thing? Don't think so! However, I let stats speak for me, and $1,005 worth of BCH shared in the last two years. As the last crumbs of Bitcoin Cash were shared to those still alive, I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Kim Dotcom managed to create new dynamics when he launched the Beta Version of CashRain, a community-driven media platform that rewards community members with rains of Bitcoin Cash. The tool aims to connects content creators from mainstream social media and streaming platforms with their followers and subscribers.

CashRain is powered by Bitcoin Cash, allowing the creators or Twitch/Youtube streamers to share $BCH to the community members. I joined a bit late but I was quickly amazed by the efficiency of the tool and the ability to boost the followers pool of all type of creators.

As always in the Cryptoverse, everything goes on fast-forward! The members of the Club1BCH shared 0.57 BCH, but then I couldn't create any new cashrains. This was a bit odd as I always paid the active rains and the content was always crypto related.

I didn't give up and created the "DeFi and Stuff" community, which grew slower then the Club1BCH one. The hype was gone and cashrain is now infested by scam tweets, NFT projects that don't make me feel they are real and big value cash rains that never get paid.

It's the people that ruin the tools, or the tool's lack failing to tackle bad actors? Not using the above platforms will probably save me 15-20 minutes per day, which is a considerable amount that will add up in the weekly balance.

Efficiency is the key and can't go Beast Mode without moving forward. The Social Media Universe Is Too Big For BCH Powered Platforms!

The "fear" of adopting a new platform and tipping currency (cryptocurrency) is probably the main reason. Most people loved BCH airdrop rewards and joined ReadCash and NoiseCash out of "greed." In the absence of airdrop rewards, most people left.

It was so quiet in here for few months but still a handful of people kept posting. For me this is true commitment and "for the readers" attitude. But looks like the floodgates are now open ....

I wouldn't say I liked random rewards. The platform's support should be proportional to the blog's engagement, i.e., the number of views, comments, and replies to comments. I was publishing during the past few months, i.e., without random rewards.

I know you did, and few others as well. The system should be re-thinked and made meaningful

It's not easy to escape the niche and become a huge mainstream platform. It takes massive utility to reach where Facebook and YouTube reached. Facebook brought the masses onto the internet (for the wrong reasons, though) and changed it for the worse.

I believe there's also bias towards American websites, and you can find that out on Twitter which promotes topics that concern Americans mostly. There's also a bias towards websites controlled by a few media moguls. In fact, 99% of the internet population only visits the same 10-20 websites every day, and they all belong to just a handful of people. Therefore, it's not that hard to manipulate public opinion anymore.

It used to be different 10 or 20 years ago, more equal, with better opportunities for every website developer.

Totally agree with that... People will use and read what most of the people use and read. However, one of the issues is when the users have no interest to help out with platform development

Yes, that's an issue. If for example on the first difficulty everyone abandons a platform they were using daily for a year, then there's really no future.

It may take a long time to go up, the statue of liberty was not built in a day.

Yeah, platforms that support BCH are limited only but I hope in the future it will be supported by other platforms too.

The system was set and progress could be easily achieved... if wanted. But needs effort and commitment ... which most are not willing to give
