The Rebellion Has Begun - The Legendary Daarg Deadblast Joins The Conflicts
The Splinterlands online collectible card game on Hive is currently the only play2earn Dapp that survived the purge. I stopped playing everything else, due to various reasons. Cards are ready to be unwrapped from packs or to be bought through third-party online marketplaces.
Why is Splinterlands special? Blockchain technology helps players to own their cards as non-fungible tokens. The battle mages will use their deck to battle others and earn rewards. The game keep raising the standards when it comes to blockchain gaming.
The play2earn game on Hive keeps growing bigger and bigger with each expansion. The Rebellion went live at the start of December, with all the new cards available for play. I want to share the packs I bought, those I opened and the cards I found inside! Let's make it both festive and social!
The pre-sale had an astonishing success, and the general sale follows the same pattern. Half million packs were sold already, with 50,846 bonus packs distributed. The standard price per pack was 5000 DEC, but I was able to spend VOUCHER tokens in order to receive a discount on the base price. Each VOUCHER token used reduced the price by 200 Credits / DEC and the maximum discount available using VOUCHER tokens will be 20%.
How many will sell during the general sale? How many more packs I will buy? How long will take to sold out? This are all great questions but it's hard to predict!
Each Rebellion pack contains five cards, with at least one guaranteed rare card. I am a poor battle mage, one of those that will pick small tasks for an extra coin, and all that I could afford during the pre-sale was two packs! I plan to buy more... but what to sell? It started with two humble packs, but more will follow. The goal is to fill those war wagons with top cards and earn more rewards.
We all know that the rebellion has begun and Praetoria now trembles beneath the weight of destiny! The colossal war wagons trundle across its territories, and trying to tip that scale in someone's favor. They are no ordinary wagons ... they are powerful summoning stations capable of sustaining the elemental manifestations wrought from cards.
The Riftwatchers and their rebel allies accompany them, using their power to fight against the legions of the Chaos Empire. The War Wagons will break the chains in which Praetoria was bound. Are you ready for conflicts that will echo through the ages?
You may ask what are this .... "conflicts"? The Splinterlands team revamped the old airdrop system to a new and improved mechanism where only eligible players will get airdrops. The new system was called conflicts, to vibe with the rebellion theme, and it will only count players who stake their packs.
It doesn't matter how many Rebellion packs a o player had bought, if they are not staked. Get your packs ready for staking, and those legendary cards. The new synergy will reward holders more than those who bought and sold the packs!
This is a new and re-vamped airdrop system, rewarding those that are loyal to the Rebellion. In the past, players who purchased packs would simply receive airdrop cards based on the number of packs they originally purchased, regardless of whether or not they held those packs or immediately sold them all on the secondary market.
With Rebellion... everything changed! The battle mages are required to stake unopened Rebellion booster packs, or Rebellion cards, in order to participate in the ongoing war to fight the Chaos Legion. Staking will help them earn the powerful airdrop cards as a reward in proportion to the amount of packs and/or cards that each player contributes over the duration of the Conflict.
Each Conflict will be scheduled to run for approximately one month, with its associated airdrop card becoming claimable once the Conflict ends. Each Conflict will have a fixed amount of the next airdrop card that will be available for players to earn at the end of the Conflict based on their participation relative to all other participants.
To participate in a Conflict, players will need to purchase one or more "Battle Wagons" using a small amount of VOUCHER tokens in which they can stake their Rebellion cards and booster packs. Each Battle Wagon will allow 5 cards and up to 100 packs to be staked. Cards and packs can be added to a Conflict at any time and can be unstaked instantly.
More alpha? The total Collection Power of the cards and packs that are staked will be counted hourly for each participating player and added to a points total for that player. At the end of the Conflict period, the players who participated in the Conflict will be able to claim their rewards. The more points a player earns during the Conflict, the more chances they have to receive more of the fixed pool of available airdrop cards.
I opened my first pack last week and it was a treat! Two rare cards and three common ones in the first unwrapping. Argarux Magus and the Pirate of the Eight came to stay, and their aid will be useful for the battles yet to come.
According to the lore, the Argarux Magus is part of the onyx orcs whose settlements span the western foothills of the Daigenloft Mountains and stretch into the caverns of the Upper Daigendark. They are fiercely territorial and often at war with other splinters that encroach upon their borders and if war doesn’t find them... they expand their borders until they find it themselves.
Theirs is a culture of conflict and bloodshed, and there is no greater honor than to fight and die in battle. The magi of the tribe are no exception. They often stand near the front lines and unleash wild bursts of magic, each fallen foe fueling their furor. Worth mentioning that the Argarux Magus gains Bloodlust at level four? Bloodshed guaranteed!
According to the lore, the Pirates of the Eight are an infamous crew of pirates led by Captain Corin Drace, who commands eight fleets totaling nearly seven-hundred ships. They are the bane of the three seas of Praetoria, sailing its coasts and raiding the merchant and trading ships that carry goods from one port to another.
They can found in practically every port, where they take what they want from the ships in the harbor before heading to a local tavern to have a good time! Blast and Reach from level one brings havoc into the battle.
Here's the second pack, with juicy rewards! What started with a common card ended with a legendary Daarg Deadblast, plus a golden foil Yak and an epic Redwyrm Hatchling in-between. As Barney said: Legen... wait for it... dairy!
The yak has a bony plate on it's forehead that serves as both armor against predators and a blunt weapon for defending the herd. But will the furry beast be able to defend against a Redwyrm Hatchling with Aim True? The hatchlings will learn to kill before they can even fly, as their mother or father will bring them live prey.
According to the lore, Daarg Deadblast fought his way up the ranks of the Drybone Anarchists to become the chief advisor to the Eternan Brune. His cunning, relentlessness, and predatory instincts make him both highly valued and highly suspect by even the Sultan himself. Why? Because Daarg finds both opportunities and risks, and he subtly navigates them to further his own ambitions.
Weapon Training and Swiftness from level one, plus Triage and Dodge earned through leveling! Daarg will laugh while boosting his army towards victory and glory. It doesn't feel like an expensive card either!
Speaking about Eternan Brune, the sweaty alpaca showed up in the season chest rewards! This was one of the top harvest, with 25 cards found in 25 chests. Only one summoner but plenty of cards that I used for upgrades. Looking forward to see Rebellion reward cards added soon.
Every card matters in the Rebellion, and all uncommon cards will matter even more for Conflicts. There's a whole new synergy for the airdrops! The staked cards and packs cannot be transferred or listed, but they can be used in battles ... it doesn't matter how those cards or packs were obtained!
How many I have? Not many... but more will follow! Ten cards at the moment, with one golden foil and one legendary. The next step is to hit the market for some bargains, and gather vouchers for the war wagons.
Until the Rebellion reward cards will land, let's enjoy dual-element summoners, pre-match tactics and the new abilities. The Rebellion set added four new unit abilities: Armored Strike, Corrosive Ward, Flank, and Lookout. he new abilities will enhance certain elements, making the team's synergy more... deadly!
Armored Strike - The units with this ability will gain an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using the Armor stats
Corrosive Ward - For me this is Acid Thornes and the nemesis to Repair! You can't Repair something that's been melted into acidic goo! When the unit with this ability is hit by melee attack, will do 2 damage to the attacker's Armor AND will also reduce the max Armor of the attacker by 2.
Flank - If the unit with this ability is in the first position, then the unit in the second position gains the Reach ability. Imagine the synergy created by this new ability, making the first two units work together to bring down the enemy tank
Lookout - Say Hello! to scouts that shield your support units! The card with this ability will help adjacent allies to take one less damage from Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity attacks.
Are we going the distance? Who knows! I am still using OG cards for ranged only battles, as the new ones are still hard to integrate. How would you build a team for a battle where only archers can be used? What if the mana is also limited to 26, and the selection pool is not great?
From ancient times, the general will claim the glory after the battle. The leader will choose the tactics and will prepare the battle, being responsible for glory of failure. Contessa L'Ament was my choice for this battle of sharpshooters, backed by a weird synergy of abilities and monsters.
Contessa L'Ament: -1 ranged attack
Venari Marksrat: Ranged with Martyr
Gargoya Devil: Ranged with Flying and Close Range
Xenith Archer: Ranged
Ravenhood Warden: Ranged with Protect
Weirding Warrior: Ranged with Shatter
Vampire: Ranged with Life Leech
I was expecting General Sloan and an army of archers, but I had to face Thaddeus Brood. If the health reduction makes sense, the magic dampener made no sense at all. It looked like a wrong choice of summoner, and the units selection wasn't great either. This rebellion will be stopped quickly.
The Soul Strangler is not as powerful as an OG Vampire, and this was seen when my Dracula eliminated the lesser creature. His place was taken by the Gargoya Devil, one that looked my pale than mine. This one released a deadly bolt and took care of the Marksrat, only to boost my own Gargoya Devil through Martyr.
The pale one was shattered by his own kin, with a flap of stony wings. The Dhampir, another lesser vampiric creature, couldn't face the tide of arrows and was soon defeated. See the full battle here!
