The Battle Mage Secrets - Become A Martyr Only If Fire And Regret Are Worth It!
Greetings Splinterlands Summoners! The classic weekly battle challenge retired to make way for the Battle Mage Secrets series, making it more entertaining. This new set-up adds a focus on dynamic strategies, as players will be able to choose from a greater selection of more diverse units to bring into battle.
Let's enjoy the Fire & Regret ruleset, where all monsters will receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with ranged attacks receive damage back.
The Amplify ability will increase the damage dealt! Time for the critters to be blasted away! May the gods of random be ever in my favor!
The tactic is simple ... don't use ranger units as all monsters will receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle and the arrow shooting units will receive damage back.
But what if I play against the battle-rule and use ranged monsters with Martyr for an weird combo?
I can use ranged units with the Martyr ability and speed up their death with Return Damage! Once they day will give adjacent units +1 to all stats and boost the team towards victory!
I have the Venari Marksrat, the Firecaller and the Fungus Flinger in my deck, just to decide on which one to use for this insane idea!
The Venari Marksrat is the easiest option, cheaper than the Firecaller and available to all Splinters as a neutral unit. The marksrats spend more time in the forests than they do underground, they are... rangers! Most of their time is spent taken hunting and foraging, with marksrats being the main food gatherers for the venari colonies that inhabit the upperdark caverns of the Realm of Silence. They are incredibly agile and have honed their hunting skills to perfection.
Their crude bows are fashioned out of tree branches and saplings. Don't be fooled by their unrefined look as the skilled archers can still hit a fleeing rabbit at a hundred yards with precision. They hunt alone or in packs, and if you ever manage to spot one, you can guarantee they saw you first and have been watching you for some time.
Purge by fire or cleanse by water? The strategy was deflated by the low mana cap, as 12 mana to make a decent team is a true challenge! I decided to still give it a try and not way another 50 games for the Fire and Regret to show up again!
Tarsa: +1 Health & +1 Melee damage
Tenyii Striker: Melee with Sneak
Venari Marksrat: Ranged with Martyr
I had to face a Water splinter team with a chicken and a Djinn, and my moral boost was gone! Took the chicken out, the Marksrat got damage back but then missed the hit on Djinn Oshannus ... and you can't afford missing an attack in such close battles!
Tenyii Stiker down at 1 health and no chance for the Venari to go kamikaze! What went wrong? The low mana cap ruined my plan and I wasn't able to create a team that will survive enough for the Martyr to happen! See the full battle here!
