SuperUMAns #58 - UMfluencers Program September Review
The UMfluencers Program started at the end of September, and threadoors with knowledge about UMA tools and products, or crypto savvy people with a good reputation in the social media space where invited to join.
UMA offers Universal Market Access, promoting the crypto decentralization and implementing blockchain technology in the Cryptoverse. All types of DeFi protocols and DAOs can use the UMA tools to implement financial solutions and improve the way was assets can enhance the products.
The UMfluencers had to join the UMA Discord, sign up for the “UMfluencer” role from Channels & Events and write tweets and/or threads about UMA, the Optimistic Oracle, or any other UMA product.
The entry was official once the tweetthread was shared the #umfluencer-posts channel, and the competition for $UMA prizes was on! Points were awarded for engagement, quality and community votes. Read the full rules and points system in The UMazing Threadooor University of Engagement article!
Infinity spoke about UMA protocol and the Optimistic Oracle, the oracle and arbitration system that can bring real life date into the blockchain. It was build for Web3 and disputes where the answer is not a clear yes or no, and securely allows for arbitrary types of data to be added on-chain.
Emily covered how oSnap leverages trustless execution through the integration of Snapshot's off-chain voting system and Safe's multi-signature (multi-sig) wallet infrastructure, enhancing security and transparency in decentralised decision-making processes.
Pumpedlunch answered the commone questions about UMA Protocol's Optimistic Oracle (OO) V2 request flow vs OOV3's assertion flow with an amazing flowchart showing the differences and similarities.
Kurapika explained how UMA Protocol works, and how oSnap is enabling DAOs to execute governance proposals on-chain, bypassing central entities. It uses UMA's optimistic oracle to verify snapshots vote results and execute transactions with a Safe wallet.
Heruvim's thread about UMA 2.0 and the Optimistic Oracle V3 explained how the Version 3 of the oracle can validate any kind of statement, 'grey areas' included, establishing if it is True or False.
My favorite thread was Mide's comparison between UMA's Optimistic Oracle and the Nigerian deity "Ifa"! In Nigerian history, particularly the Yoruba culture, 'ifa' - a deity that sometimes predicts the future was worshipped for its prophetic insights. It also acted as a guardian, shielding individuals from ill-fated choices and misfortune.
Though the sources were purely divine and unknown, it gained a lot of blind trust. This ancient oracle had an impressive 89.9% accuracy rate, until dishonest practices began to tarnish its reputation. Fast forward to today, similar issues plague various aspects of the world.
People yearn for truth, security, and reliability, and in a decentralized world it's hard to hold a large number of people accountable. This is where UMA Protocol steps in with its modern-day oracle, offering a beacon of trust and transparency!
Across is the bridge that Ethereum deserves! TheRealTuna is telling the world why the Across Protocol Bridge is quickly becoming the most popular bridge in the ecosystem due to it’s efficiency. The team focussed on the tech instead of rushing things and it’s starting to pay off!
Due to the flexibility of the OO, Across provides the cheapest and most secure bridging on the market and is rapidly expanding to more chains. Live on Eth, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, zkSync ERA, and BASE. Which chain will be next?
Smarty told us about the "Oracle of Truth", while Razer's topic was about UMA staking and the enhanced security given by oSnap! Exploits not only hurt voting integrity, but can cause retailers to get hurt and protocols to get shut down. UMA Protocol helps ensure proper validation of data in relation to smart contracts when $UMA stakers vote on whether reviewed data is correct.
The UMA 2.0 Voting System allows the token holders to earn rewards by making successful disputes, as stakers are incentivized by majority to resolve any issues if there is a malicious or erroneous statement found in any data that it’s reviewing.

TengoLoTodo had an Optimistic approach for the current market situation and told us how the UMA's Oracle can bring sunshine in this current crypto winter of ours. Steven explained how UMA innovated the status quo of Oracles! They are a key part of blockchain infrastructure, enabling communication between the external world and on-chain environments in a trustless manner!
Idksamad meme explanation for how the Oracle and the dispute system works was sweet and efficient! Anyone can give answer to required data and that answer will be accepted True if no one disputes during this whole challenge period. And it's mostly go through since answer are honest or else someone will dispute it eventually. If someone disagree with previous answer there's dispute to make it true and completely honest.
Do you know that Across is been using oSnap for a while, and was used it to propose the execution of a series of transactions that make a REAL change to protocol parameters. But that's not even half of why this is so cool!
First and foremost, when you use oSnap for on-chain execution of off-chain voting, you are TRULY making your governance process universally accessible to your token holders. There is NO dollar cost to voting this way. It can be easy to miss how cool that is!
But what about the gas cost of on-chain execution? I'm so glad you asked! You don't have to worry about that either. The oSnapBot automatically proposes and executes proposals that meet your governance criteria on Snapshot. If your vote passes, bot will handle it!
All entries were judged based on quality and three threads received extra points from the UMbasadors. Kurapika, Heruvim and TheRealTune were awarded 2 points as bonus.
Idksamad had the only thread with memes and he received the meme bonus point. The number of impressions was important as well, and TheRealTuna had the top thread and was awarded three more points for efficiency!
The top 10 entries after the emoji community votes were awarded points, with Kurapika adding three more points for receiving the most votes. Heruvim, Mide, Emily and Infinity received two points, and those between 6th and 10th place added one point to the September total.
All hail Kurapika.... the first UMfluencer of the Month! Looking forward to see you more participants for October, as the $UMA prizes are getting bigger! September was a spoiler, and the new month has five prizes of up to 50 $UMA for the top UMfluencers!
