Splinterlands Gladiators - Some are humble.... some are ferocious ... all are overpowered!
I am heading towards my third year of playing Splinterlands, and few months of grinding on brawls. Started with my brawls late... December 2022... because I was guildless! Brawls are large tournaments in which Guilds fight together against other Guilds, so my allegiance to one was mandatory.
Several guilds all facing off against each other, competing to earn Crowns and leveling their Arenas. Up to 10 guilds of the same Tier are randomly grouped together for each Brawl, with fights completed in Wild format.
I completed few brawls and I discovered the Gladius Cases! The special pvp decks can be bought with the merits earned in brawls and the cards are overpowered!
The Gladiator cards are more powerful then normal cards, but there are SoulBound. This cards can be played only in brawls, and can't be traded, delegated, rented, or sold.
Only one Gladiator card can be selected for a battle, but is no limit of the number of Gladius Cases that can be purchased in the Guild Store. The normal potions don't work for Gladius Cases, but they count towards the Collection Power score. All the 32 Gladius card have the Bloodlust ability, earning +1 to all initially non-zero stats per defeated opponent.
Farmed Merits for a while, fighting hard in every brawl, and spent it wisely on two Gladius Cases. The first one was good, with a golden foil Krash Wanderford and the epic Alfredo!
Krash Wanderford may have the outward appearance of a human, but anyone who knows him can see that he is a canine at heart. He is by far the fastest of the Gladiators, but not particularly skilled with any weapons!
The pirates of ΛZMΛRÉ are known throughout the Splinterlands as tough opponents, and Alfredo is one of the best ones! He is a master of more skills and trades than can be named around a fire on the longest night of the ΛZMΛRÉ year.
Second pack had a similar bounty, with another golden foil Krash and an epic card. Relenor Cleaver looks like a top gladiator, one that can bring destruction under the protection of a hulky tank!
The Cleavers are the only family of ΛZMΛRÉ Axemasters who have ventured away from their homes on the edges of the jungle. Relenor Cleaver wields the heaviest axes in the history of the Axemasters, and he has been drawn to the glory of arena combat and the roars of adoring crowds at Mount Mox!
This was my Gladiator deck at the start of the Spring, with not many choices and nothing else than level one cards. Bertrol Gobson was my only golden foil, but things changed a lot in the last two months! I sliced and diced in many brawls and enhanced my deck!
Up to 24 cards, from 15, and many already upgraded to level two! More wins in brawls will bring more Merits, and more Merits will bring even better cards. Even better cards will bring even more wins in brawls.... so you see where this is going!
I can bet that the Witch of Warwick will be the highest upgraded card, as this shady person drops almost in every Gladius Case. Half year of brawls and my Witch is already level 3... and growing stronger!
From my gladiator cards, Quora Towershead is one of my favorite! She's part of the mountain-dwelling clan from the upper Seed Mountains of Anumun, but a more complicated card then 99% of my deck!
Quora will one day be the last of her clan, passing the warriors’ blood that flows in her veins to a new generation of gladiators. She packed for a one-way trip lightly, knowing that the Gloridax would provide the essentials of living in the Gladiator camp and knowing that she would be accepted.
She costs 10 mana but is a gift that keeps giving! Quora starts with 11 health points, 2 magic damage, 2 melee damage and 3 speed! However, she will heal the tank and keep boosting her stats with the Gladiator ability. It gets even better as Immunity and Dispel are gained through leveling!
Are you not entertained by ferocity gladiators? This had to be amazing! The "Are you not entertained?" battle-rule was backed up by "Ferocity" and 99 mana cap! All the cards were boosted with Fury, dealing double damage to units with Taunt, and both players could select an extra Gladiator card! Game On!
Summoner: +1 Speed and Gladiator
Grund: Melee with Double Strike
Centauri Mage: Caster with Return Fire
Quora Towershead: Melee/Caster with Bloodlust and Heal
Goblin Tower: Ranged with Blast
Katrelba Gobson: Melee with Sneak and Double Strike
Djinn Chwala: Melee with Thornes
Amazing to have 99 mana cap, and decided to boost the team with another Gladiator card! I selected the Helios Matriarch and used both Quora Towershead and Katrelba Gobson for this rumble in the jungle!
Rosa, the Matriarch, carries Ataraxia! According to scripture, Ataraxia - The Dragon Warden Staff, was gifted to the church’s first Matriarch by Helios and has the power to bend time to the will of its wielder.
Katrelba is the eldest daughter of Rock Gobson! She was enroled by her father as a Gladiato, hoping that Katrelba could be someone else’s problem for a while. She starts with 3 health points, 2 melee damage, 2 speed and three abilities... Bloodlust, Sneak and Double Strike! The combination becomes more lethal with upgrades, as Katrelba gains Snare and Cripple!
I had to face a Void Dragon, and this one looks scary, but I felt confident! All my enemies had boosted melee attack, and some of them were using Sneak to hit the last monster in my team.
I had a feeling about this and set Djinn Chwala as the back-gate keeper! Each hit will deal Thornes damage, and hopefully giving me an edge-advantage! Round one was all about flexing power, and that Void Dragon should have been the first one down ... but Grund missed a hit!
Bloodlust! Quora launches a spell and the Void Dragon is sent back into the darkness! Quora stats boosted by 1 and the battle gets heated! Djinn Chwala was taken down by several heavy hits, but the Thorns damage dealt will count heavy in the balance of the battle.
Quora Towershead made another victim, and again boosted the stats through Bloodlust! Katrella had the final blow, got Bloodlust and got the victory on her blade! See the "full" battle here!
