Splinterlands Brings Melee Mayhem In Brawls, Gladius Cases Bring Legendaries!

I am heading towards my third year of playing Splinterlands, and fighting in brawls opened new opportunities. Not only I earn PvP experience and Merits, but also boost the overall power of my deck. I am very close to reach a decks strength that will give upgrade my maximal tier to Silver III.

My personal best is Silver III, which I manage to reach in most seasons. A higher level will automatically give better rewards, more experience and more chests! It's game on!

The Gladiator cards are more powerful then normal cards, but there are SoulBound.  This cards can be played only in brawls, and can't be traded, delegated, rented, or sold.

This is not an issue, as I am now brawling on a weekly basis! The last skirmish was probably my best run, winning 5 games from the 6 battles I entered. I helped my guild to finish on the 5th place, and earned 369 merits.

This little boost was enough to go above the 2000 merits required to buy a deck, and purchased a Gladius Case. Unwrapped four cards and only commons, when the 5 card started to vibrate and shake! Boom .... legendary unwrapped! Larissa Kerato was hiding in this pack, the last and greatest Chaman champion.

According to the Splinterlands lore, Larissa is one of the unusual Gloridax gladiators! She was enrolled by the Dragons, and she is the only remaining members of a proud waning race known as the chamen. Her race resemble humans in every way except for pointed ears and curved horns that protrude from their foreheads.

The last battalion of chamen warriors faced the loathsome Titan of Doom. They intercept their enemy before it reached the city of Athua, and even if every last chamen warrior was destroyed, the Titan had to retreat. The tale of chamen sacrifice was shared among the Dragons alone, thanks to a single Lightning Dragon who had witnessed the battle.

The few chamen that survived were watched over and protected by the Dragons even until the great Splintering, and their future generations were given a home in the new Dragon city of Centrum in hopes that the dying race could prosper and regain its former glory. This is the legacy that the Dragons see in Larissa Kerato, their last and greatest chaman champion.

Larissa was taught secrets of Dragon magic and became one of the most powerful living weapons of the Gloridax. Now she will represent them in the arena as a Gladiator and bring glory to her chaman ancestors. She starts with Bloodust and Double Strike, gaining Void, Dispel and Blast when upgraded! Power overwhelming!

If the brawls are going well, not the same can be said about the daily rewards. Even if my max tier is approaching Silver II, this season I struggled a lot and still fighting to reach Silver III. It doesn't help when the 5 daily treasures contain only rubbish rewards!

The rewards started to get better as I advanced to Bronze I, and found two cards in the next five chests. The Rare Venari Marksrat got upgraded to level two, and can be used in weird dynamics and battle-rules. The Possessed Puppet can be a good card in Opportunity or Melee Mayhem battles, but hard to be used as a tank in standard duels.

The Possessed Puppet started to appear more often than Chucky, smiling sinister while waving deadly knives. The new day brought a new card, with a Pyrewatch Devil flaming out from the treasure chest.

According to the Splinterlands lore, this devils are drawn to the fire element in all its forms, whether heat, dryness, intense passion, or fire itself. They are fueled by their emotions, and the flames shine brighter the more intense their emotion is. The legend says that the burning heart of the pyrewatch is more than magic ... it is simply the natural course of life itself!

Surfed towards Silver III after a six victory steak, only to lose the 7th battle due to misfortune. It was an even game, until my Pelacor Bandit missed the enemy Pelacor Bandit three times. I lost the battle as my opponent won it with only is Bandit, and this lucky sod with one health point.

However, the winning streak helped me to earn more chests than usual! Had ten treasures to open, and between the potions and merits ... I found a souldbound summoner!

The Pembrook Nymph seams related to the Costal Sentry, but the lore says that this creature is so beautiful that a single look can drive one mad with desire. She has long hair, full lips, and perfect skin. She is queen of the river nymphs and a guardian, defending her world from interlopers! She is the Kardashian of the nymphs, making travelers babbling incoherently or spouting nonsensical poetry about passion and beauty!

More and more rewards, as the end of the season was getting closer. Three days before, and I grinded hard on the battle field, earning 13 treasure chests.

Four cards from thirteen boxes is a good ratio, specially when all of them are cards that I use in battles. Was good to get Alchemy and Legendary potions, as I run out and need some to enhance the chances for better cards.

The involvement in voting never stops, and I feel obligated to take part in all the snapshots. I voted for Riftwatchers packs to be available for $DEC, along the other 89% of the voters. It's good to buy packs with the currency that runs Splinterlands, giving the tokens more power an utility!

Do you wanna build a snowman? Sorry but no! Melee Mayhem is what we have prepared for today! The melee monsters could hit from any position, and this automatically set the focus on brute strength! The battle could be won by dealing more damage then my enemy.

Tarsa: +1 Melee Attack & +1 Health

Living Lava: Tank with Shield

Disintegrator: Melee with Demoralize

Scorch Fiend: Legendary melee & zero mana card

Molten Ogre: Melee with Demoralize

I used two monsters with Demoralize, making sure the opponents are dealing less damage, while using Tarsa to boost my melee hits. My health was reduced by won, but Tarsa brought it back to the normal values.

The Cursed Windeku was taken down easily, even if the Thornes took the Scorched Fiend along! Meanwhile, none of the monsters were able to deal damage to the Living Lava! The Shield combined well with the Demoralize, and the 1 melee damage was pointless against my tank.

The Living Lava was untouchable even after the Disintegrator was nuked down by sneaky attacks. My battle plan maintained the course, as more unites were taken down by the Molten Duo!

The Ogre and the Living Lava burned through the enemy lines, leading my army to victory! See the full battle here!
