Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets - Take The Sky When The Earth Shakes
The classic weekly battle challenge retired to make way for the Battle Mage Secrets series, making it more entertaining. This new set-up adds a focus on dynamic strategies, as players will be able to choose from a greater selection of more diverse units to bring into battle.
Let's enjoy the Earthquake ruleset, where all non-flying monsters take 2 physical damage at the end of every turn. The snared units are considered non-flying.
The quake damage can be reduced, since is physical, if the unit has the shield ability. Time to display your birds, dragons and fairies, and even heavy shielded tanks! May the gods of random be always in your favor
The earthquake will hit all non-flyers, and half damage for the units with shield it's still damage!
The plan was to select the top winged monsters and grind damage until the enemy is defeated, but as always things don't always go according to the plan.
Little flying critters will rule the world! I scrapped plan A and had to adapt to a more demanding battle-rule, as Earthquake was doubled by Little League.
Only the monsters and summoners that cost 4 mana or less could be used in the battle, making pointless to have 43 mana cap.
Kelya Frendul: +1 Armor & +1 Speed
Cruel Sethropod: the best cheap tank
Pelacor Bandig: Melee with Flying and Sneak
Venari Marksrat: Ranged with Martyr
Ice Pixies: Caster with Flying
Tower Griffin: Ranged with Flying
Merdhampir: Ranged with Cripple and Life Leech
I had to battle a Life team boosted with health by Mother Khala, but my tactics for the battle were perfect.
The Venari Marksrat was set between the Pelacor Bandit and the Ice Pixies to boost them once he will be hit by the Earthquake. The Martyr ability will grant +1 at all stats to adjacent units.
The first quake hit the battleground without making any causalities, but destroyed the armor of most monsters.
The Xenith Monk was the first to fall, followed shortly by the Stitched Leech. Sticks and bones may break your bones, but the earthquake will crush you!
The second wave took down the Truthseeker and my Venary Marksrat, and unleashed the Martyr ability on the Pelacor Bandit and the Ice Pixies. Both units got upgraded to beast-mode!
The Merdhampir was another key factor for winning the battle. He boosted his health with the Life Leech, while also crippling the enemies. He will reduce the health to the units he damaged, and gaining HP as well.
The ice magic dealt deadly damage, and the bandit's blades sliced deep! The third wave of the earthquake settled the score, with the Merdhampir being the only non flying unit that made it alive! See the full battle here!
If you think the Earthquake and Little League combination was a killer ... what can you say about Earthquake mixed with Noxious Fumes?
Are you ready for global cataclysm? This battle dealt some damage, as the landscape was fighting back. It wasn't a race of delivering blows, it was survival of the fittest!
Obsidian: +1 Spell Power
Mycelic Slipspawn: Main Tank with Taunt
Nectar Queen: Off-Tank with Flying
Goblin Psychic: Caster with Heal
Centauri Mage: Caster with Return Fire
Gelatinous Cube: Support with Scavenger
Hill Giant: Melee with high HP
Obsidian facing Obsidian, even if my opponent looked better prepared. The enemies were led by Queen Mycelia, boosting the Mycelic Slipspawn, the Mycelic Infantry, Mushroom Seer, Sand Worm and the Wood Nymph healer.
I lost the Mycelic Slipspawn after the first round, just before the earthquake and poison hit everyone. Was game over for the Wood Nymph and others barely survived to fight another round.
Was total carnage in round three and all I had left was the Centauri Mage and the Gelatinous Cube! However, the quake and poison hit again ... boosting my slimy thing to 9 HP. The Mooshroom Seer and Queen Mycelia were buried alive, as the battle turned dark.
The poison cloud hit hard the Slipspawn and the Sandworm, as my Gelatinus Cube gained two more health points! I claimed the victory as the centaury deadly magic dealt the final blow! See the whole battle here!
