Greetings Splinterlands Summoners! The classic weekly battle challenge retired to make way for the Battle Mage Secrets series, making it more entertaining. This new set-up adds a focus on dynamic strategies, as players will be able to choose from a greater selection of more diverse units to bring into battle.

Let's enjoy the Going The Distance ruleset, where only ranged monsters can be used in the battle. The focus should be on using cards with Close Range and/or Return Fire to adapt to the criteria! May the gods of random be ever in my favor! May your arrows always fly straight!

Until Death Makes Us Part! The "Going The Distance" battle rule is easy, as only the ranged monsters are available. The difference is made on how other boosts or curses are integrated into the battle dynamics.

If only rangers can be used, than Contessa L'Ament is the clear choice! The witch will make a difference on the battlefield, reducing the ranged damage of all enemies.

Contessa L'Ament: -1 Ranged Attack

Venari Marksrat: Ranged with Martyr

Gargoya Devil: Ranged with Close Range

Xenith Archer: Ranged

Ravenhood Warden: Ranged with Protect

Weirding Warrior: Ranged with Shatter

Vampire: Ranged with Life Leach

I used 6 monsters and added 5 different abilities into the mix, trying to increase my odds in this battle. The Venari Marksrat will not be able to shoot, but will boost my Gargoya Devil through Martyr.

The Gargoya will become my tank, shooting from the first position due to the Close Range ability. The others will launch deadly arrows from behind, and enjoy the extra armor given by the Ravenhood Warden.

The opponent used the Soul Strangler to delay the damage on the Gargoya Devil, and let the Dhampir Stalker have more shots. However, the strategy gone wrong as the Soul Strangler was done in one blow by my Vampire.

The Vampire's health got increased by one, and he was sharpening the fangs for more bites. Unfortunatelly the Weirding Warrior missed his hit on the Gargoya Devil, and delayed the damage for another round.

The Venari Marksrat sacrificed himself for the greater good, and my Gargoya got hulked up! Plus one to all stats, and my stone archer gone high on steroids'!

The Gargoya Devil is going the distance! The boosted monster went up to 4 armor, 3 health points, 3 ranged damage and 4 speed! The hulking monster took on his own bread, nuking the enemy gargoya in one shot!

Because a dhampir is just half vampire ... he's probably weaker than my vampire! He didn't had too much life left, as he was filled with arrows shortly.

What went well? The team had great synergy, and the Venari Marksrat Martyr made the difference. The plethora of different abilities created an overpowered army of shooters and this made the battle look easy. See the whole battle here!
