Splinterlands Battle Mage Secrets - Even Stevens with FiveAlive and Diemonsharks
Greetings Splinterlands Summoners! The classic weekly battle challenge retired to make way for the Battle Mage Secrets series, making it more entertaining. This new set-up adds a focus on dynamic strategies, as players will be able to choose from a greater selection of more diverse units to bring into battle.
Let's enjoy the Even Stevens ruleset, where only the units with even mana costs can be used. This rule does not apply to summoners, so this is a problem for another day.
Selecting the best team of even-mana units is difficult, depending on the available splinters and additional rules. This ruleset is distrupting, as it can break the synergy of winning set-ups.
It looks like Even Stevens is more like Mirror Stevens, as the tactics where similar in the approach and utilization of rulesets. We both chosen Kelya Frendul for that one point in speed and armor, and the Diemonshark as the tank with Trample.
Three rulesets and "the way of water" for this battle, with True Aim and FiveAlive along the desired Even Stevens. The attacks will always hit their targets, but WTF is Five Alive? This is the first time I seen this ruleset, and no matter the mana cap... only five units can be selected!
Kelya Frendul: +1 Speed & +1 Armor
Diemonshark: Melee tank with Trample
Djinn Oshannus: Caster with Void
Supply Runner: Ranged
Deeplurker: Melee with Opportunity
Wave Brood: Ranged with Taunt and Close Combat
My plan was clear, seek and destroy! The opponent went for the long game, with all melee fighters and protection. Shields and extra armors to extend the game, as if my army will allow that.
The Wave Brood was set last on purpose, to draw attacks from the Diemonshark. It was the best way to keep the big fish alive for longer, and allow the others to take on the challanging units.
It was going the distance, as nothing happened until half way through round three. It was then when my Diemonshark took down the other Diemonshark. It triggered the Trample and he had another swing ... this time at the Coastal Sentry.
She got really angry after the fish-slap, and sliced the Diemonshark with her heavy attacks. Djinn Oshannus took on the tank duty... and man this bad boy can tank!
However, it was the Supply Runner who eliminated the Coastal Sentry from the game, with an accurate bolt. It's getting heated!
Lots happening at an accelerate paste, with the Wave Brood splashing around with no chance to reach the endgame. The one-health orc demise was delivered by the Deeplurker, and Oshannus was fighting the big bad bear!
After two years of perpetual bear market, we all know that the bear is though. This one managed to win a 1v1 against a mighty djinn, and make me doubt my strategy.
Did I used the Supply Runner in a bad possition? He was unable to attack and I felt like loosing my tactical advantage. However, the Deeplurker took care of the bear and now he could use his fangtooths to strike from behind.
The enemy Deeplurker took two big bites and that was the end for the Supply Runner. Meanwhile, my Deeplurker was biting from behind.
The duel of the lurkers started, and that one armor mine had could have been the detail that turned the tides of the battle in my favor.
All the events, and all the well planned strategies led to this particular moment in time... hit and win... miss or lose! See the full battle here!
