Splinterlands Battle Challenge - Is Dax Paragon a glorified Time Mage?

I must admit I love the new dynamics for the Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge, with more epics/legendary cards and less ... dragons! Drax Paragon is one of the Epic cards that I don't have in my deck, but this is not an issue ... as he is a glorified Time Mage (IMO)

Dax was a spoiled brat, growing up in a mansion overflowing with the finest of items. He was that type of posh kid with wealthy parents. Dax was often left to his own devices as his parents ran their enterprise. When he became old enough, Dax was given his large inheritance to begin his own sect of his family's business, which he called Dax's Consultations. He lived a fast life of luxury, of gold, and of stabbing anyone in the back that tried to cross him.

The Chaos Legion wanted him and he even had an audience before Silas of the Rift himself. This is the story of how he become the advisor for the most powerful creature in the Splinterlands

Dax is an epic Life card added in the Chaos Legion expansion, with Amplify at level one and Affliction at level five. It's a cheap mana card that can boost the whole team.

I don't have the spoiled brat in my deck so I used the Time Mage for this Splinterlands Challenge. Time Mages are members of the Order of the Silver Shield and close associates of the Wizards' Council. They are trusted to peer through the fabric of time and reality to foretell the future, and are the good guys!

They will slow down the enemies and cast their spells quicker then DAX, and the mana cost is justified. Let's roll and make "Magic" great again!

Even Stevens ... Even Magic! Only 20 mana cap for this battle and less choices due to the Even Stevens battle-rule. Only even mana-cost card were available so I went for a Taunt tank and the Time Mage dynamics.

Mother Khala: +1 Health to all friendly monsters

Shieldbearer: Tank with Taunt

Vulguine: Off-Tank with Scavenger

Time Mage: Caster with Slow

Celestial Harpy: Melee with Flying and Opportunity

I had to fight a team of OP melee monsters, with extra health and damage from Tarsa's boost. But then... why having three ranged monsters instead of melee? The Antoid Platoon was chosen as the tank, hoping that the Shield ability will delay the fight.

The ants reduced some of the damage but the Celestial Harpy took care of the best ranged unit... taking down the Fire Pixies. The Time Mage reduced the opponents speed and my monsters hit first. The Shieldbearer had the final blow on the Antoid Platoon and the battle was mostly solved after 3 rounds.

The Shieldbearer was defeated but he will go to Valhalla for his courage in battle! Vulguine took his place and did well as a tank, as his health went up to 6 health points. This savage wolf had a griffin for lunch, and was still hungry.

Time Mage rulezzz! Slow and steady magic delivered with deadly precision. Vulguine kept chewing and slicing, until the last target was defeated. Was do need for that silly Dax in this battle. See the full battle here!
