Rebellion - The Splinterlands Are Shifting Again

0 47

TOGETHER... WE RISE! The cries of anguish have been replaced with the silence of oppression, as the Chaos Empire took over Praetoria. And yet...there are whispers of rebellion. The  Splinterlandsare shifting once again, as the rebellion is coming!

The fifth core edition will be epic! The Rebellion set will introduces multiple entirely new elements to the  Splinterlands gameplay, such as new abilities and multi-element summoners.

The Rebellion set is currently scheduled to be released on the 5th of December

The Rebellion edition will feature four new unit abilities which will create a wide range of new dynamics.

  • Armored Strike - The units with this ability will gain an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using the Armor stats.

  • Corrosive Ward - For me this is Acid Thornes and the nemesis to Repair! You can't Repair something that's been melted into acidic goo! When the unit with this ability is hit by melee attack, will do 2 damage to the attacker's Armor AND will also reduce the max Armor of the attacker by 2.

  • Flank - If the unit with this ability is in the first position, then the unit in the second position gains the Reach ability. Imagine the synergy created by this new ability, making the first two units work together to bring down the enemy tank!

  • Lookout - Say Hello! to scouts that shield your support units! The card with this ability will help adjacent allies to take one less damage from Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity attacks.

Good times ahead! The Rebellion will bring 96 new cards, including two limited-edition promo cards available only during the Rebellion presale, and nine Legendary airdrop cards which will be distributed via a completely re-imagined system! The promo cards and legendary airdrops will not available in packs!

Nothing new when unwrapping packs, each hiding five randomly cards from the Rebellion set, with at least one guaranteed rare card. The Legendary and Alchemy potions can be used to increase the chances of receiving Legendary or Gold Foil cards at the same rates as previous sets as well.

Price? Not too expensive, as each pack will have a base price of 5000 Credits or 5000 DEC, and purchasers may spend VOUCHER tokens in order to receive a discount on the base price. Each VOUCHER token used will reduce the price by 200 Credits / DEC and the maximum discount available using VOUCHER tokens will be 20%.

Here comes the Super Pre-Sale Alpha! The players who purchase Rebellion packs during the presale will also be eligible to receive not one, but two new limited edition promo cards! Buy 10 packs during pre-sale and receive one Grimbardun Smith Neutral Rare card! On top of that, every single Rebellion booster pack purchased during the presale will have a 1% chance of receiving a Mantaroth Neutral Legendary card!

The new abilities are cool ... but the new summoner mechanics are mind-blowing.

Five rare Summoners and one legendary Dragon Summoner will be introduced, and the dual-element concept will enhance the gameplay. This special summoners will be able to summon cards from two of the five basic Splinterlands elements together on the same team.

What path will you chose at the crossroad? The summoners with this new mechanic will have two sets of buffs to choose from, only after both players have revealed the team.

No more buy & drop on the market, as the new airdrop system will require players to stake unopened Rebellion booster packs, or Rebellion cards, in order to earn airdrop cards as a reward.

Each "Conflict" is scheduled to run for one month, and the airdrop card becoming claimable once the Conflict ends. The first Conflict is currently planned to start in December shortly after the launch of the Rebellion set, meaning the first airdrop card is expected to be claimable in early January 2024.

We will fight chaos with chaos, and we will spread the rebellion flame across the world! It started as a single drop... and now we are a tidal wave of change!

We will fight magic with magic, and will burn bright! The rebellion whispers are getting louder, and each pawn will play he's part.

Fighting magic with magic is a good idea, but not when the Counterspell battle rule is active. It's even worst when Wands Out is matching up the Counterspell, as only monsters with magic can be used... and they will reflect all spells!

Obsidian: +1 Spell Power

Centauri Mage: Caster with Return Fire

Mycelic Slipspawn: Caster with Taunt

Regal Peryton: Caster with Flying

Goblin Psychic: Caster with Heal

Scavo Technomancer: Caster with Blast

Elven Mystic: Caster

This weird set-up can't go well, as the gods of random are having a laugh! Let's use a kamikaze tactic and try to deal as much damage as possible!

I was facing a ... magical army! My magical damage was reduced by the summoner, and Djinn Oshannus will reduce it one more time. This is bad... but good, with less damage being reflected back to the casters.

Round one was crazy, with a dozen of spells reflected back and forwards. I quickly realized I was wrong, and Oshannus will still reflect damage even if he will be unharmed by the spells. Poetical justice ... as units started to fall from their own spells.

The Captain's Ghost was a top choice, as his Affliction sealed the fate of the Centauri Mage. The Affliction made my unit unhealable and made me lose the heal factor.

Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité ou la mort! Vive la révolution! This is how rebellions' are starting ... as a single drop!

Centauri Mage down, Regal Peryton down, and even the Elven Mystic was taken down... by his own spell! The story ends with the lonely goblin who battled against a mighty djinn and a ghost! See the full battle here!
