My Splinterlands Journey - 1050 Days From A Never-ending Saga
It's tine to share my victories, and the journey that took me where I am now! Will be a roller-coaster of emotions and events that took me deeper into the captivating universe of Splinterlands.
I joined on the 26th of December 2020, that's 1050 days ago, and this timeframe is just the beginning of an never-ending saga. I will fight, grow and become better... and I will seek the peak of the leaderboard.. now and forever!
The story started with an young apprentice, a seeker of knowledge, that had some big dreams and nothing to lose. Eons after... after zillions of battles and fights... the young apprentice turned into a sage! The veteran battle mage will soon celebrate another year of turmoil in the Splinterlands, and his party will be as hot as lava!
Yes battle mages... it's no secret! This is my story! I had a leap of faith on the 26th of December 2020, when my brother pushed me to create my account. It was a decision that had impact on my life and on my daily routine.
I was ready to fight for glory, crypto and NFTs... as my Splinterlands knowledge was limited! I thought that I will use my Hearthstones or Might & Magic experience to boss the game but I was wrong!
This battle mage apprentice was both naive and arrogant! Lost several battles until I learned that ranged monsters can't attack from the first position, and many more until I fully understood the tactics and abilities.
I become thirsty for knowledge and improved my game with practice. I remember how happy I was when I first reached Bronze III and spread the word with friends and crypto bros!
My brother introduced me to this enthralling world, and also supported me in this amazing journey. He was an endless reservoir of knowledge and patience, and my card supplier for the last three years!
Boxing day will be a chill day after a tiring Christmas, and my third anniversary into this mesmerizing realm! I still remember the months of struggle, with a huge gap in cards power between the OGs and the new players.
Took me half year to get to higher bronze levels, and when the Chaos Legion came... I embraced it! The new cards lowered the difference between players, as new cards and summoners created new dynamics!
I set a goal in opening 100 Chaos Legion packs back in March 2022, and I am still few packs away from achieving the milestone! However, the biggest achievement so far is reaching Silver II ... sweet sensation of sampling Splinterlands silver II success!
The Splinterlands are always shifting, and things always get better. I initially didn't liked when the energy system was added, but slowly understood that this gives casual players better chances to climb the leaderboard.
What is my upcoming goal? To finally open those 100 Chaos Legion packs, reach Gold ranking for the first time and get at least 10 packs from the Rebellion expansion set!
The Rebellion set is scheduled to be released on the 5th of December, and the presale will finish soon. Each pack contain five randomly cards from the Rebellion set, with at least one guaranteed rare card. The Legendary and Alchemy potions can be used to increase the chances of receiving Legendary or Gold Foil cards at the same rates as previous sets as well.
Those purchasing Rebellion packs during the presale will also be eligible to receive not one, but two new limited edition promo cards! Buy 10 packs during pre-sale and receive one Grimbardun Smith Neutral Rare card!
On top of that, every single Rebellion booster pack purchased during the presale will have a 1% chance of receiving a Mantaroth Neutral Legendary card!
The Rebellion set contains 96 new cards, including two limited-edition promo cards available only during the Rebellion presale. Other nine Legendary airdrop cards which will be distributed via a completely re-imagined system, as the promo cards and legendary airdrops will not available in packs!
The price per pack is set at 5000 Credits or 5000 DEC, but the players can spend VOUCHER tokens in order to receive a discount on the base price. Each VOUCHER token used will reduce the price by 200 Credits / DEC and the maximum discount available using VOUCHER tokens will be 20%.
The new abilities are cool ... but the new summoner mechanics are mind-blowing. Five rare Summoners and one legendary Dragon Summoner will be introduced, and the dual-element concept will enhance the gameplay.
The special summoners will be able to summon cards from two basic elements on the same team. The Splinterlands will burn but this time I am ready!
I hope to get some packs, or I will have to rely again on the secondary market! The fifth core edition will introduce multiple entirely new elements to the gameplay, such as new abilities and multi-element summoners.
Some of the Summoners in the Rebellion set will be dual-element, allowing them to summon cards from two elements on the same team. Rebellion Summoners will also feature a new mechanic called Summoner Tactics, where players can choose between two sets of buffs or debuffs after both players reveal their teams. Forget all the current successful tactics, as new ones will emerge!
The Rebellion set will introduce four new unit abilities: Armored Strike, Corrosive Ward, Flank, and Lookout. he new abilities will enhance certain elements, making the team's synergy more... deadly!
Armored Strike - The units with this ability will gain an ADDITIONAL Melee attack using the Armor stats
Corrosive Ward - For me this is Acid Thornes and the nemesis to Repair! You can't Repair something that's been melted into acidic goo! When the unit with this ability is hit by melee attack, will do 2 damage to the attacker's Armor AND will also reduce the max Armor of the attacker by 2.
Flank - If the unit with this ability is in the first position, then the unit in the second position gains the Reach ability. Imagine the synergy created by this new ability, making the first two units work together to bring down the enemy tank
Lookout - Say Hello! to scouts that shield your support units! The card with this ability will help adjacent allies to take one less damage from Sneak, Snipe, and Opportunity attacks.
Any advice for beginners? Play and enjoy each battle, read and master the tactics, and make sure you don't get upset when you lose! When you win... you win! When you lose... you learn!
There are many guides for newbies, and lot of people sharing tips in the Battle Mage and Social Media challenges! Watching battles will always provide a good learning experience, helping you to see why some tactics are better than others.
What do you think about an all-melee Fire v Fire battle, with Explosive Rats and sneak attacks? How will you approach the fight and how will you increase your chances to win?
The Up Close & Personal battle-rule will allow the battle mages to use only melee cards, while Super Sneak will boost all monsters with the Sneak ability. This will make them hit the last enemy instead of the first.
Tarsa: +1 Melle & +1 Health
Living Lava: Melee with Shield
Ant Miners: Melee with Scavenger
Exploding Rats: Melee with Blast
Radiated Scorcher: Melee with Shatter
Antoid Platoon: Melee with Shield
Scorch Fiend: Melee Decoy
Tarsa against Tarsa sounds like an insane battle, as all monsters have their attack boosted. My opponent also choose the Disintegrator to reduce my melee even more, but it was a mistake to use it as a tank.
Both Scorch Fiends done the job as decoys, and the enemy Living Lava absorbed all attacks in the first round. Disintegrator in the first position was a big mistake, as it Demoralize could have a bigger impact on the long run.
The Exploding Rats kept blasting damage, and the Radiated Scorcher shattered the Living Lava armor. It could have been harder if that Disintegrator would had a tank in front of him!
I lost half of the team until I got rid of the Demoralize and got my melee damage at maximal level. Meanwhile the rats kept blasting and the Ant Miners kept gaining more health!
It was game over by the end of the fifth round, and this showed how a single card used in the right/wrong place can influence the outcome of the fight! See the full battle here!
