Horizen EON was activated this summer and the Alpha stage is an early opportunity for community developers to move their dapps onto mainnet. Alpha is also the early on-boarding phase for the launch partners, allowing them to integrate their services onto EON mainnet.

Horizen is a layer 0 public blockchain that enables the zero-knowledge network of blockchains powered by the largest node system and a massively scalable cross-chain protocol, Zendoo. The Horizen chain become EVM-compatible through its sidechain EON. Developers are able to build fully customizable chains, including consensus, speed, privacy and crypto-economies.

Horizen reached a key milestone in decentralized governance at the end of September, when the Horizen DAO was launched. This marks the beginning of a new era of participatory governance for the Horizen community.

Horizen is an open-source, public protocol with a broad and diverse ecosystem that includes developers, miners, node operators, and $ZEN holders across multiple blockchain networks. The launch of the Horizen DAO makes it easier for Horizen community members to get involved in governance and make their voices heard in the direction of the project.

Horizen has always been a community-driven project and has long recognized that a strong social layer is crucial for maintaining integrity across the ecosystem. This approach is directed by the guiding values of transparency, security, accountability, community involvement and social responsibility.

The Horizen DAO will decentralize decision-making for technical, non-technical, and other substantive improvements to the system, through IPs. The Protocol Improvement Proposals (IPs) are used to select and implement new features and core protocol changes in many blockchain projects.

What happened already?

The expansion on Ethereum brings new partnerships, as Horizen will use Band Protocol to deliver decentralized oracle services for EON. The cross-chain data oracle platform will provide real-time price feeds and reliable data for Horizen EON.

Horizen integrated Covalent for EON, bringing data visibility and unified data points for developers! The partnership will bring enhanced blockchain data aggregation process for developers to efficiently build on Horizen EON.

Horizen partnered with Ankr as one of the first RPC providers for EON! This strategic partnership brings enhanced accessibility, scalability, and reliability to the rapidly growing EON ecosystem.

Horizen partnered with Auros to enhance liquidity for EON! Auros is a market-making and algorithmic trading firm, with experienced derivatives traders and trading system designers with over two decades of expertise.

Horizen partnered with Wanchain to bring greater accessibility, scalability, and reliability within the Horizen EON ecosystem. The R&D-focused blockchain interoperability project is on mission to drive blockchain adoption through interoperability by building fully decentralized bridges that connect the world’s many siloed blockchain networks.

The latest partnership was announced on the 28th of September, when Horizen EON welcomed a new name intom the EON family. NTT DATA is the IT services provider and global innovation partner headquartered in Tokyo, with business operations in over 50 countries.

The leading IT service provider and global innovation partner deployed a Horizen EON blockchain Certificate Signer Node on the NTT DATA infrastructure, which will contribute proactively to the credibility, security, and robustness of the Horizen EON network.

What makes EON special? It's sidechain not a layer-2 solution, meaning that all the tools will be benefit from the full power of the Horizen open-source public protocol.

Moving $ZEN to Horizen EON can be easily done from the Sphere Wallet, as long as you have the updated version. My last wallet update was in 2021, and I was wondering why I can't select a sidechain! The option become available after the updated, and I could easily select Horizen EON from the drop-down menu.

I sent 0.1 ZEN as a test and the transaction was completed in seconds. I needed only a small amount of ZEN to use early deployed (community built) Dapps such as The Faucet Coin $TFC, the Love Faucet and Zen Domains.
