Alec was jolted up from sleep when he noticed the shuttle wasn't moving. Ace was already up, his longsword in hand as they both had the very same thought on their minds.

They had been caught.

"We need to get out of here, fast. Are you strong now?" Ace asked.

"Yeah," Alec said, before punching the roof of the shuttle hard. The echo reverberated around the crevice they were shuttling in, but it only dented the roof of the shuttle.

"That's an extremely densitized Titanium alloy. It'd take a lot of punches to break through it. And then, the echo you'll create will lure everyone in our direction. Step aside." Ace said matter0of-factly.

He gripped his sword firmly, and the blade began to glow,

"Come on..." he muttered, flexing his muscles. His eyes began to glow yellow again, and the black stripes began to appear. The blade's edge became fiery, emitting a strange blue light like a welder's sword.

"Great!" he said, before slashing at the roof of the shuttle twice. Instantly, the metal began to rust before disintegrating completely.

Alex was shocked. Not only did the blade respond to his anger or determination, but the marks also did as well. And what more, the blade had a terrifying destructive power.

"What's up with that sword of yours?"

"It's my plasma longsword. Also a gift from your parents. Responds to my emotions, and is capable of rapidly destroying the molecules, or cells of whatever it comes in contact with, depending on its power."

"Woah..."

"Yeah, but the upgrades we're going to get for your armor are much more important now. You can't do anything with that armor if you'll always be fighting in close-combat. So we need to get out of here," Ace said as they both jumped out of the shuttle.

They were about four feet away from the roof of the crevice, which was 18 feet below ground. It would definitely take at least an hour before they'd hit the surface, and with the limited air available, they had to get going.

"Alright, Alec, I'll hurl you at the roof, and all you need to do is to give one hard punch with all you got, okay?"

"Wh... Alright, I guess," Alec resigned and braced himself. Ace grabbed him by the arms and hurled him with an unexpected amount of force. He was sure it was a product of his Beast Mode or whatever that was.

In one quick move, He hit the rock surface hard, and before gravity could catch up, he gave it another hard punch before landing. There was a brief rumble, but nothing more.

"What the hell? That didn't do anything!" Alec shouted at Ace.

"Calm down, kid," Ace said, holding another cylindrical object. He twiddled with a few controls on it, and then shifted backward.

"Alec, shift backward. Like a lot back."

Alec shifted, and then he threw the object up. As soon as it hit the roof, he jumped back and pressed a button on a stick he was holding.

There was a flash of light and an instant explosion with a loud boom. Alec ran further back as the ceiling caved in, rock falling everywhere. They were blocked off from each other, but before Alec could complain, there was a secondary flash of light and a loud buzz. Soon, most of the rock was vaporized and he could look into the large hole created by the explosion.

There was a speck of light, which showed that it had gone all the way to the earth's surface.

"Woah! What was that?"

"A 2-in-1 A-grade explosive and vaporizer. After the initial explosion, which is very devastating, it then vaporizes the rubble around. I twiddled with it so the blast has a reduced range of destruction, but more destructive power. Coupled with the fact that your hard punches made the earth here unstable, it was an easy thing to do," Ace said, putting his stuff back in place as he brought out a pair of what looked like gloves.

"What are those?"

"Super-adhesive gloves. They a force of attraction so great, they can stick to any surface. It comes with your armor as well. Activate it with your voice."

Alec was unsure.

"Eh... Activate Super -Adhesive gloves?" he said uncertainly.

"Activated!" the familiar computerized voice chimed, and his hands began to buzz.

"Let's go!" Ace said as he leaped and hooked unto a wall surface before he began to climb into the hole. Alec followed suit quickly.

******

"Did you hear that?" One of the squad leaders asked after hearing the explosion.

"Yeah, it's in one of these caves. They may have broken through the shuttle and bombed one of the caves to get out of here."

"Retreat, everyone," was the next instruction issued. "We're going to kill them with gas."

******

45minutes later, Alec and Ace had about five feet to climb. It was tiring, especially for the arm muscles, and Ace had struggled to keep the marks in check, which granted him a lot of agility and stamina, but came with a downside that Alec really didn't know anything about.

Just that Ace was desperate not to allow the marks to last for long.

Just as they were about putting in extra effort for the last lap, the armor chimed: "Carbon Monoxide levels rising. Activating oxygen support!" and the helmet covered his face again.

"Carbon Monoxide? Damn it!" Ace said.

"What's that?"

"Those idiots are trying to gas us out here. That suit can only offer about 20 minutes of oxygen support before the supply runs out, and I can last 25 minutes max. We need to get the hell out of here."

They tried to climb faster but reducing oxygen levels and their tiredness contributed to slower progress. Alec was breathing a lot harder, so the oxygen support was depleted faster and faster until it was all up. The helmet opened, and Alec knew it was over.

Soon, he was feeling very dizzy.

Ace could see the small opening to the outside world, but he was too dizzy to even move. Alec could feel all body systems shutting down due to the lack of oxygen. He was slowly losing hope...

"Aaargh!" Ace shouted, and with the last breath of air he had, punched through the rock and broke through.

A rush of cool air enveloped him, and then he gripped the rock surface for stability again as he tried to catch his breath. He then delivered more punches around simultaneously, knowing the marks were covering his body faster now, but ignoring them until the hole was wide enough for him to move.

Slowly, he pulled an unconscious Alec out even as the armor went into emergency resuscitation mode.

They were at a riverbed, tired, hungry, and breathless.

With his last effort, Ace threw another bomb, but this one had more range of destruction. No one would be following them now.

As the boom made the ground shake and quake, Ace fell unconscious as well.

WIPs

I already had this sort of theme in mind from the first time I looked at the prompts for Inktober, so I knew what I was going to do.

I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks!

It is a somewhat explosive story for my taste, but I will continue reading to see if it softens or they continue to fight with each other.
