What do you mean by ‘trance’?” Lance asked. “We just entered here to see you and you were vibrating there – it almost looked like a convulsion.”
“I don’t know. I just fell into a trance, and I saw the guardians of the Light and Darkness sword duelling it out.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know. I couldn’t hear anything, so I don’t know who’s good or bad, or if that’s even the reason for the fight. But they are both very powerful, that’s one thing I confirmed.”
“Very…strong?” Frost asked.
“Their abilities are insane.”

Eclipse.
A befitting name for a technique that caused nothing short of pitch black darkness.
“This is… impossible...” Kendrick muttered.
“You haven’t even begun to grasp the full extent of my abilities. Your light ability may be powerful, but in the face of my technique, it flat…” a voice echoed from within the darkness. He couldn’t even place his opponent’s location… that spelled doom for him if he couldn’t figure out something quick
“…and now, I’ll proceed to repay you for the blows you gave me earlier.”
The sound of the steps approaching him assaulted his ears – when eyesight was gone, the other senses became magnified to make up for the loss, or at least that was people said. But now, it was a huge issue trying to adjust since what Kendrick was hearing were monstrous footsteps closing in on him.
Zip!
It was the sudden air current that made him move, but the blade grazed his arm nonetheless. The next punch was something he could not avoid, and it hit him square in the abdomen, winding him immediately. He tried to stand up, but the sword stabbed into his arm, while another punch rammed into his abdomen again. He felt very light-headed as he crashed into the ground, raising his arms to, luckily, meet the one-armed thrust of Yami’s sword that he did not see coming. Kendrick's palm was pierced, but that was a small price to pay.
Kendrick grabbed the blade of Yami’s sword and held it tight – he had got him. Turning his sword to make the blade face the sky, he jumped up with speed, smiling as he felt his sword rip through clothing and slightly tear flesh, relishing the sound of Yami’s screams.
It was still dark, but he knew the anatomy of the human body like the back of his palm, He knew he was about to hit the Adam’s apple…
Lacerate the b*stards windpipe, he thought, and that would end this stupid fight.
But at the last moment, the boy zipped back, and the darkness vanished.
Standing in front of him was Yami, his blood-soaked shirt ripped across the middle.
“Huh? You backed down?” Kendrick asked, not advancing any further. He was also badly bruised and bleeding
“We…should both end this fight,” Yami said, getting himself together.
“I see why your technique worked. You backed me into this corner where the lighting was low enough to allow your technique to work. We both know Darkness is weak to Light, and your technique wouldn’t have lasted more than a second outside,” Kendrick said, smiling as he got ready to attack.
He picked something from the ground, something Yami couldn’t see.
This guy, Yami thought, what in the world is he up to?
“This has been more drawn out than I expected, but I’ll end you here,” Yami said, getting into position. “And this time, I’ll be very stealthy. You won’t even realize you’ve been hit.”
“Bring it.”
“Eclipse!”
This time, Kendrick thought, your cheap tricks won’t save you.
He didn’t hear Yami approach, but there was already something for that. The crunch sound produced as Yami stepped on the broken glass he’d left on the ground notified him of the latter’s position just in time, as he dodged to the right and felt the whoosh of the Sword whizzing pass him to hit the concrete wall.
He threw the stone in his hands, but he was sure Yami dodged it.
“Fool, you’re blind – you don’t even know where I am.”
“You were not the target.”
As Yami heard the clang and turned, he realized Kendrick’s game plan. The stone hit the latch of a window which was opposite the open balcony and thus in an area with enough lighting. As the latch mechanism broke, the window swung open, reflecting light that was enough to break the darkness.
As he turned back to Kendrick, he realized he’d made a mistake by looking away.
“Halo, the glory of the heavens.”
The entire world became an endless orb of pure light for Yami. It was everywhere – all he could see was light – and it assaulted his eyes. He froze in horror when he heard the words.
“Vanish into eternal darkness.”
