"Slow and steady wins the race" - Aesop
An ascension or progression to a greater height always starts from somewhere. A baby must crawl before he or she learns to walk.
And even when they start walking, it's more like a stagger - funny, slow, weak inconsistent movements that are formed by muscles which are srill developing the required strength to be able to balance the weight of the child.
At this point, the baby does not endeavor to make more 'advanced' movements like jumping and running - these are beyond the ability of their muscles.
In the same vein, when trying something new, it is important to take baby steps.
Today I just received the notification that I had achieved a thousand views on Read.Cash.
1000.
Four figures.
Honestly, I was thrilled, even though that progress might be termed slow for someone who's been on the platform for over two months.
Yet I was happy because barely over a week ago, I reached 500 views. To double that amount in a short time showed that I was getting closer to achieving what I intend to achieve.
When I first joined read.cash, I was just a bored student in lockdown looking for some passive income, since African parents are not so familiar with the "allowance" idea when their kids were at home.
I'd tried Idle Empire (befitting name based on my situation at the time of joining), Cointiply (More like Cointi-add-a-little, Uptrennd (not really worth the hype), memo.cash (no data on this one really) and many others, and it all ended in tears. Then I found Read.Cash and then I thought maybe I'd hit the jackpot.
But three weeks into my membership, I discovered two things:
I wasn't exactly going to make thousands of dollars on this site (which I'd probably have known if I read the welcome post, but I 'll be damned if people actually read the terms and conditions).
I didn't know a thing about cryptocurrencies, and this site was paying in BCH. Apparently, as I was thinking, even if I made a thousand bucks, it'd be on this chain made out of blocks that everyone seemed to be talking about, guarded by 12 guardian words in the form of fruit seeds.
Depressing.
I was discouraged and sort of took a break off online earning for a while, but then I started learning about cryptocurrency and I developed a keen interest in Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash. I knew these were the next big things (from the little analysis I was doing), but I didn't know how exactly I would earn it.
Sites like PublishOX required users to about cryptocurrency, and with the limited knowledge I had I had, I knew it would be two blind men leading each other across the road.
Then I remembered that Read.Cash allowed people to write about anything (anything meaningful), and I decided to come here. Almost everyone was writing about a token, the Bitcoin Halving, and Blockchain jargon, all of which I couldn't understand, but I decided to come here and slowly but surely create a name for myself as a fiction writer.
And then Streets of Africa was born, which I probably should have continued now that I think about it.
I started taking the baby steps I should have taken earlier.
Now, I've learned to crawl, I guess. And with the little experience I've gotten, I am ready to explore more genres and communities to write in.
The lesson here is that when things don't seem to be working out, ask yourself if you're running before you've learned how to walk.
Rediscover your purpose
Ask yourself why you really went into that venture - most times this is not what you had in mind when you applied, registered, started or joined.
Whatever you wanted when you began might be very different from what you needed. Rediscover your purpose and then you could be able to channel your energy in a direction that will produce results.
Learn the ropes before you tie yourself down
Let's forget about bad puns like mine and focus on the message. I didn't know much about Read.Cash yet I was so gung-ho about joining and earning.
We all see how that turned out.
When I returned, I paid more attention to how others who were successful went about their activities. I also made it a habit to look out for the updates from the talking head of Read.Cash.
Learning how things work and applying wisdom saves you the stress of trial and error in the long run.
Take Baby Steps
Even if you have big dreams and ambitions, remember that Rome wasn't built in a day. Focus on the smaller achievements, one at a time, while keeping an eye on the bigger picture.
At this point I hope I'm not sending conflicting messages.
It's just like, let's say publishing some short stories in the local newspaper, while you continue to work towards your goal of writing an International Bestseller.
In time, you'll see that your small achievements, one after the other, in a consistent manner have added up to the big finale you wanted to reach.

As usual, this is just the opinion of a crawling baby with crazy ideas. Remember to leave a comment; it shows you read, understood and also have contributions and constructive criticism to render.
Nice informative article Dear
