My family, my life, my intro..
For a lot of us, home is where the heart is. And family is the closest to home. While some of us have the opportunity to work close to them, most of the time is not always the case. I, for example, live on my own, far from my family. While I am able to manage living independently for the last 2 decades , the idea of spending time with people that matters the most, pop-up from time to time. For other culture, it may not be a big deal, but for Filipinos, it is one of the core values. Being close to family is our way of life.
Hello, everyone, my name is Ferdie. This is my first time posting in this app. And this is my introduction post. I heard about this app from a hive post talking about the platform. Since I am still in the look out for alternative social media, I say to myself, why not give it a try. Specially that the interface is clean and simple.
You see, I am a family person as stated in the first paragraph and the pandemic has tested my commitment with my family big time. I got stuck in the city for more than 2 years, hundred of kilometres from my hometown. I used to go home during holidays and special occasion but the restrictions took all those special moments and opportunities.
But recently I had the opportunity to travel back home to Mindanao, where I grew up. The morning was gloomy when I pack my belongings for my 3 weeks vacation. From where I am staying is a 2 hour bus travel to the main port of Cebu City going to Nasipit. The trip takes around 12 hours or the entire night. Usually the schedule of most ferries leaving the city is around 7 in the evening. So you really have to be an hour early if you do not want to be left behind. And because the trip was 2-years in the making, I made sure that I will not miss the boat and so I arrived earlier than expected.
Fast forward, I arrived home safe and sound. And what was supposed to be a grand vacation turn out to be a home isolation because of the never ending torrential downpour and heavy rain. And it turn out a blessing as I have to spend my time with my family and my self. I get to babysit my niece and nephews. Help my parents with some household chores. And revisit my previous hobbies while the rain keeps pouring in.
So for the entire duration of my vacation I was able to celebrate those occasions that i have missed for the past 2 years. After all, life is all about family. At least for me.
I hope I was ableto inspire you with my itroduction. I will share more in my next post.
