CHAPTER ONE
The smell of decaying flesh against odors of putrid blood splattered across the floor filled the air with intense humor as dead bodies laid wasted on every corner of the earth. The once glorious green lands filled with trees, mocking birds singing, kids playing and cars moving in no particular direction now had one direction, still, wasted, done for, as silence devour a once lively earth.
All government and regulatory bodies had fallen like dead brown leaves from an old dying tree. A once harmonious world is now in chaos, humanity had lost its way. The very thing that once held humanity together now lays broken, split from the middle into unequal halves and someone had to fix it. Little or nothing at this point was known about the virus that plagued the earth. Rumors had it that it was an engineered virus which spiraled out of proportion, but everyone was busy trying to stay alive. No one cared for rumors at this point. The sudden outbreak of the UCL virus which took humanity by a storm, back dated man’s evolutional progress with over a thousand years.
It turned men to cynical beings, scavenging for leftovers like stray dogs on the streets. And if you weren’t scavenging, you were running from zombies. Zombies were the end products of the deadly UCL virus which wiped away a third of human population like a bull with one mission, to kill. The UCL virus turned most of the people infected with it to zombies after their death and the remaining percentage were left as sufferers who could transmit the virus to others. The fall of the old world order and government forced countries to come together and unanimously create an interim government that would usher in a new world order and government in a bid to oversee the management of the viral outbreak. The interim government was saddled with the responsibility of tackling the spread of the virus and providing provisional resources for the survival of the people. Soon after its inauguration, Statham, the head of Statham Group, was elected the president of the interim government but not before long, his administration was met with great resistance from an opposition group, Denver Group headed by a strong willed man, Denver. The Denver group has always believed that the corruption of this present government ran deep and the secrets of the government disgusted him.
Denver had a soft spot for the sufferers. He had lost a many good men to the virus and would do anything within his power to protect those who survived, but the rumors of the origin of the virus was still unclear and that disturbed him. He would bet his money on Statham as the master mind of this virus, and so he hated him for it. Statham and his wife, Louis ruled over the interim government with iron fist and they detested oppositions. They were a power couple whose name sent fear to their enemies. Statham was a vicious being and his wife, the brain behind his success. Together they proved unstoppable. They had created an empire from the scratch and nothing or no one will take it from them.
Statham, wearing a black tailored suit which ran tightly along his well-built muscles had disgust written all over his face as he stared across the council chambers to where his main opposition, Denver stood. Louis who knew her husband in and out, like the back of her hands traced his eyes to Denver and immediately knew why his countenance had changed. She walked up to him making sure to sway her waist in a seductive manner and whispered into his ears, ‘Say the words and he would be dead by tomorrow’. Statham turned to look at his wife and gave her a cynical smile. She wore a velvet red dress that failed to hide any of her curves. The neck lining of her dress traced down to her lower chest wall, exposing a sizable portion of her full breasts. This brought an even wider smile from Statham. Her beauty and prowess was astonishing. Lifting her hands to his lips, he kissed them the old fashioned way, sighed heavily and whispered under his breath
‘I wish I could go there right now and strangle the life out of him, he disgust me’ Statham said while turning around to stare back at Denver. At this point, he and Denver locked eyes and he had to force a smile, Denver returned the smile with a fetish grin. His wife joined his gaze while holding his hands, she waved at Denver while Denver tipped the top of his hat and gave her a gentleman’s bow. They both stared at him for awhile...
