What Should You Do If You're Tired Writing?
Isn't it fun to be creative? Creating fictional characters for stories is a terrific method to exercise our imaginations. Building worlds that only exist on paper, with only words to give them life, is a time-consuming that can take up all of our attention. It takes time and effort to establish the various voices of many different people so that readers can identify them based on what they say or how they say it.
But isn't it incredible?
As storytellers, we use words to frame and construct an entire world, a cast of characters, and fascinating civilizations. What about the people in the audience? Readers will interpret your words, connect their imaginations to your vision, and dream alongside you.
I believe in miracles, even though I don't believe in magic. And the storytelling process is awe-inspiring in its own way.
Do you have any idea what it is?
Exhausting.
Creating beautiful things takes a lot of effort. Yes, it can be profitable and even fun, but any time, energy, or focus input will drain you. Even if you find it enjoyable.
It's easy to convince yourself that writing isn't labour. It's not like you're getting your hands dirty or putting any physical effort into it. Is it true, though, that writing isn't work?
Not in the least. In order to help others grasp a deeper theme or message, telling stories is a complicated mental process that relies on every area of expertise and blends it with the art and
skill of communication.
Although I may be biassed, I believe that narrative is a superpower. And you must share stories from a healthy heart if you want to make a difference in people's lives.
Storytellers need to be in good mental, emotional, and spiritual health. It is critical that we look after ourselves. Otherwise, we'd be wasting our time.
What's the best way to replenish your batteries so you can resumewriting with vigour when you're too tired to write?
Rest for a while.
"What do you mean?" you enquire. "Are there no hints?" "Are there no gimmicks?" "Doesn't anyone give motivational speeches?"
Nope. Simply take a nap.
Forcing yourself to write if you're actually weary will be the most counterproductive thing you can do. Rest is necessary for both your body and your brain tofunction properly.
A drowsy mind is a cloudy mind, so even if you can force yourself to sit down and write something, it's unlikely to be worth your time.
Don't berate yourself for being too tired to write the next time you're exhausted after work, a long day with the kids, or some other duty. Allow yourself to succumb to the temptation to sleep.
P.S. Do you ever feel bad about being exhausted and not being able to write? Do you havetrouble admitting to yourself that you need a break? Do you agree with me that sleeping is the best way to motivate yourself when you're too exhausted to write?.
