May the LORD repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the LORD the God of Israel, under who’s words you have come to take refuge — Ruth 2: 12
Have you ever wondered WHY in some bible stories, God had asked the people to give what little they had to HIM? This so captured my heart today…
And it ALL began with a stranger’s outrageous request….
Picture this:- When the widow of Zarephath (which actually means ‘a smelting place’) went out to pick sticks for her last meal, she had no idea of the incredible turn of events her life would take. And it ALL began with a stranger’s seemingly outrageous request, followed by an act of obedience — The widow Zarephath had only a handful of flour and a little oil that she had to make a cake for the Prophet Elijah. And God rewarded her by making sure that her bin of flour was not used up and the jar of oil did not run dry until the drought ended. (1 kings 17: 8-16)
Question: What would you be thinking if this was you? What would you be thinking of God? And how would you respond if you were to give the last ingredients to your only meal on earth before you lay down to die? Would you do the same? Imagine what it was like for her! Starving, no place to go and helpless! Yet, she was prepared to obey the word of the Lord, spoken by Prophet Elijah — She did it and she saw the Power of God and was sustained.
Remember: When we give what little we have back to GOD, whether it’s our TIME, MONEY or ENERGY, it automatically opens up our hearts so that GOD can fill us up with more. And when we give our time to GOD, we can trust him to do make things right for us and to be the rewarder of our faith.
