Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a Nigerian writer and feminist; one of the most influencial and controversial women in Nigeria who is always in the news for one reason or the other.
The American based writer made some shocking revelations about Nigerian churches recently which got a lot of people calling her out as usual.
The 43 year old writer made it clear that she doesn't attend church in Nigeria anymore, her reason being that churches in Nigeria are all about money and fund raising. She expressed her disappointment in Nigeria churches and "over religious" attitude of Nigerian Christians.
She recalled how peaceful and helpful churches were to Christians and the entire communities in the past. But nowadays, she believes the churches even create more problem for the worshipping communities as they make it look like church gatherings are only for the rich, she said the church is being bastardized in Africa especially Nigeria
She went further to debunk rumours making rounds that she's no longer a christian, she said she still attends church but only attends in America where she lives because according to her "churches in America are progressive, unlike in Nigeria where they're only interested in money and fund raising every sunday"
Nigeria Christians did not take it lightly with her, a lot of people came at her and lambasted her for making such "sacrilegious accusations" against the church, while some supported her, saying that Nigeria churches are more after money than winning souls for God
While reading people's comments in reaction to Chimamanda's revelations, I got really lost and didn't know what to believe or think again
