Every human being is endowed with a number of emotions. We are more accustomed to categorizing emotions into positive emotions and negative emotions. Emotions are complex emotional states that produce physical and psychological changes that can affect a person's thoughts and behavior.

When negative emotions come such as anger, sadness, fear, anxiety to despair, we often ignore these emotions and prefer to welcome positive emotions that tend to make us feel good. Even though we are not designed that way. We humans need positive and negative emotions. This is because these emotions serve as a means of self-evaluation of the things we have experienced. If we continue to suppress or ignore negative emotions that come our way, we often end up getting caught in a circle of pretense or. This makes us indifferent, afraid and unskilled in managing negative emotions that arise.

In an era where pressure comes from many directions and demands are something we face everyday as humans, negative emotions are very natural, even repeated. However, ignoring or suppressing them is certainly not wise. There will be something missing, empty, empty when we get used to ignoring the emotions that arise in us. The value of being human is very difficult when external demands require us to always look good, including from a psychological side.

  • You don't have to run from the emotions you feel

Often times, instead of accepting negative emotions that arise in us, we run away or cover them with things that can relieve those feelings. We choose to run away from what we really have to face, namely the emotions that are within ourselves. However, most people still do this and it works. It was as if she had made it through the storm of her own emotions, but any apparent success would only accumulate emotions that she did not manage very well.

We can forget all kinds of things that make us feel uncomfortable, but it's only temporary, not forever. Since this discomfort with negative emotions is one warning that we are not okay, it's time to get back to ourselves and see what is going on.

  • Stop trying to look okay and try to be completely human

As we age and our responsibilities increase, we can trigger feelings of sadness and other negative emotions. There are too many things to think about, too many things to take care of and too many things that require us to be normal and look okay. But once again, we humans have a role to play in managing our emotions well, be they negative emotions or positive emotions.

Being fully human does not mean getting rid of negative emotions that arise. It is precisely with these emotions that we learn to understand that we are human beings who can not only feel positive emotions, and this is not a bad thing that must be covered up.

  • Coping with Negative Emotions by Providing Positive Feedback

Negative emotions are usually difficult to express because we are used to eliminating them or feel afraid or ashamed of negative emotions that tend to be perceived as deficient. Giving yourself and others positive feedback is a great way to express any negative emotions that come up.

It should be remembered that the emotions that are present in us are not only a form of how we feel an emotion, but also how we experience an emotion and give value or meaning to everything that happens in our lives.

There is nothing wrong with feeling sad, angry, disappointed, afraid or ashamed. Emotions that we think are bad for us can be a sign that something is unfinished within us. We still have old problems that we haven't resolved so that emotions emerge that we perceive as negative. What we need to do is manage these emotions so that we can accept and release them properly.

Think again, whether we have managed our emotions well? Have we accepted and released the emotions that have arisen? Are emotions that we perceive as negative really negative? Is that true or is it true that we are afraid to face ourselves?
