I went to the fish market today OwO I was trying to look for sea mantis but I guess it wasn't in season. Anyways, I just found out that the fish market is just a boat ride away from the mangrove forest. That part of my area is considered a nature preserve because migratory birds settle there from early November until mid-March. I did see a few unfamiliar birds near the forest so I'm assuming bird migration has already begun

We used to have a fish market right in the city but now they moved it a bit further so everyone gets their fish from their nearest hyper market
But hypermarket fish is chemically preserved fish sometimes :"( and it's pricier
Yes you are right. The chemical part I am not sure as some checks are made by food authority personals to make sure it is fresh
I just recalled an issue cuz sometimes, if they don't preserve the seafood, it could be an issue for market pullback because histamine forms and it causes histamine poisoning to some people (it was on the news here before)
Yeah probably they might be doing something in that case. Not entirely sure
It looks like a really peaceful place to live, Hanzell 🙂👍
It is! And I get cheap seafood fresh from the sea every Sunday too UwU
I envy you so much! I love seafood, specially shrimps 🤤
This was my haul from the market OwO that's around 3lbs and they're so big!!
Oh, wow... I want to eat shrimp! I am able to eat those even without cooking 🤤 Well, not literally 😅 The last time I ate shrimp, they were so small and dry 😭 it was at a Chinese restaurant.
well shrimp doesn't even need long cooking :"( just blanching is enough and that retains the sweetness and meat tenderness lol that is the very reason why I don't usually order shrimp from restaurants
I think my bad experience is consequence of the long time the food can be frozen in a city far away from the ocean. Specially for a little unknown restaurant. And the big problem around this is the electrical shortcuts than affect the freezers and the food. I eat shrimp at the beach as frequently as I can. And a delicious crab soup 🤤
How far are you from the ocean? Because I live just 40 minutes from the harbor Ohhh that seems like a good thing. Ever tried crispy mini crabs? You can eat even the shell of that
I live 2 hours from the nearest beach. Seafood has always been expensive here. We have a really nice restaurant here tho~ very reliable for seafood. Mmm... I think I'll visit them soon. No, I don't know those mini crabs. It is impressive than you could eat them entirely! That must be an experience!
That's pretty far OnO you're in the center of a continent or something? But if the seafood is good though, at least you can still get your seafood fix when you get cravings! They're batter coated and deep fried to a perfect crunch! I think you'd love those mini crabs
Well, relatively, I'm close to the ocean because I'm talking about the Caribbean itself. So I can go to the beautiful tropical beach and return the very same day, but I don't go as frequently I can. For sure! I'd love to eat those. Other of my culinary his are octopus, squid and oysters.
If it's a beach I could swim in, I think I'd try to go there as often as I could :") cuz I love the sea so much and the closest beach here would be 4 hours away (the one where people are allowed to swim in)
Oh, yeah. You can swim in almost all of the beaches here, in Venezuela because they're usually calm and warm waters. Every travel to those zones are really enjoyable. Problem here is economy, but one can manage a free weekend to spend some money at any beach 😁
Whoah you're in Venezuela OnO I've seen beaches there and they are beautiful!!! I've always wanted to fly there one day but I heard that it's pretty costly to get around since the economy is going down?
Yeah, beaches here are beautiful indeed. Mmm... Economy is hard if you work here because of the low salaries. Maybe, prices are not relatively high of you compare from other country.
