The picture says not to read, but you may already be trying to read or have read. Am I right? This is how we see different signboards all the time, let's say: Car parking is prohibited here. - Still you will see that some people of the society have parked their cars in that place. No matter how much it is written, our curiosity makes us want to do more of the things that are forbidden. The name of our attitude is "Reverse Psychology".

Reverse psychology is the temporary state of mind or strategy when you tell someone to do something you never want them to do, or to tell them not to do something you want them to do, which means you want one but pretending to do the opposite. In the case of young children, you will see that the children will want to do more of the work that you forbid them to do. He gets attract towards the work that he was forbidden to do . Reverse psychology starts from the beginning of human creation. Reverse psychology is often used by many people. We say that they are doing a double cross.

On whom does "Reverse Psychology" work more?

“Reverse Psychology” works more on kids. So children should be treated or taught with understanding. Moreover, reverse psychology works more on angry, egoistic, emotional, stubborn, confused for taking decision, self-centric people. In daily life, they are often at risk of falling into the trap of reverse psychology. On the other hand, mentally stable people do not have to suffer much in real life. They do not make hasty decisions.

Why Reverse Psychology?

According to Reactance Theory, when a person thinks that his rights are being taken away, he tries to prevent it. That is why when a person is asked to do something, he does not do it and does the opposite.

It is human nature to try to go against one's subconscious mind whenever one's freedom is interfered with, and this is normal.

Use of reverse psychology:

There are many uses of reverse psychology. As a child many teachers used to say to their students- "Nothing will happen to you. You can't. The work is not possible by you." If you can't really get the job done, you'll have to do your best to get the job done.

Reverse psychology is used in marketing of different companies. "No entry without permission"! When we see such writing, we want to see that what is inside?

"No bus stops"! You will see that the bus will come and stop right there, but maybe the bus stand is a little in front.

"It is forbidden to pluck flowers"! It can be seen that people will pick flowers from there.

"Smoking is the cause of death" is written on the packet of cigarettes. Even then, people do not want to hear the ban. Breaking the ban is our favorite. Such is the psychology of all of us. We must do what we are forbidden to do. Reverse psychology is the name of our strange attitude.

In 1962, Wilson and Leicester conducted an experiment. They give a group of kids a lot of toys, and they sit down and look at them. It turned out that out of all the toys, some toys were preferred by the children, they were playing with them more. Again some toys kids didn’t like. Now Wilson and Leicester find a toy in it that none of the kids have taken.

Then he divided the children into two groups. Allow a group to play with any toy as before. He said to another group, "You can play with all the toys, except for this one." That's what they're doing.

Why is that?

The human brain wants freedom. When it comes to intervention, we see rebellion in response. Notice in the above works, but all of them have restrictions. These restrictions prevent people from working independently. So we want to react to the ban. We became more and more interested in what we were being told not to do. It can be said that our brain is behaving rebelliously.

It all depends on how we react. This is called "Reaction Theory", according to which people who feel that their freedom is under threat or no longer have their own control, in response, become rebellious in order to regain their control, freedom. And they do what they are told not to do. Because they are attracted to it then. This is how reverse psychology affects our personal work.

Advantages of Reverse Psychology

The advantage of reverse psychology is that you can easily get the job you want from someone even if they didn't want to.

Disadvantages of Reverse Psychology

Many people may think that there are so many benefits in reverse psychology. But studies have shown that there are many disadvantages to using "Reverse Psychology". If the person understands what your real purpose is then the person will no longer believe you and will look at you badly. You might move away from the man.
