Shuttle Train - The Pride of Chittagong University

Chittagong University was established in 1966. In the beginning there was no shuttle train here. At that time student had to travel to the University with great difficulty. Especially those who came to the university from the city. They had to travel long distances through university buses. The number of buses was not enough, due to which the students have to face a lot of hardships.

Then many years passed. After the independency of the country, in 1980, the then president Ziaur Rahman launched this traditional shuttle train at Chittagong University which added another new chapter to the pages of history. There are only two universities in the world that have their own train system. One is the University of San Francisco in the United States and the other is Chittagong University in Bangladesh. At present, however, the University of Chittagong is the sole claimant. The University of San Francisco recently shut down their shuttle train service.

This shuttle train can be called - Pranbhomara of Chittagong University. The class and examination schedule of the university is centred on the schedule of this shuttle train. Everyday two trains run alternatively to the city and campus. This shuttle train revolves around the story of happiness and sorrow of thousands of students. This shuttle train has a glorious culture as well as a scandalous chapter. On the one hand there are bogy-based politics and on the other there are bogy-based musicians and choirs. In addition, there are attractive train dating facilities for lovers.

The life of this shuttle train revolves around thousands of students arriving on campus every morning and commuting from campus to the city. Every day when the students get off the train and go to their respective faculties, when someone new see them, they will think it is a huge rally. The different bogies of the train have different names. Such as : Ulka, CFC, Bijoy, 69, Ekakar, Apitaf, Cockpit, Fight club etc. These names, however, are given by different political parties based on Bogy. There are famous and unknown singers and musicians in different bogies. The job of these singers and musicians is to knock on the walls of the train and keep the whole carriage drunk. Among them there are different types of tune-untune artist. Although the afternoon trains are a little crowded, it can be said that the students have a good time. In the midst of so much hustle and bustle, there are some bookworms who, as usual, are immersed in the pages of the book with attention, even in the midst of all this noise. The traditional shuttle that holds so many beauties in its bosom is sometimes tarnished by some miscreants with student names. A few moments ago, the bogies that I named the bogies of the centre of the various unruly events. Growing up under the umbrella of various political parties, these bogy-based parties are often wrecked.

However, this shuttle train is a source of pride, joy and love for all good except for the bad. The shuttle train is the first memory for the students who have passed away.
