The lives of a large number of people are ruined today due to his cruel affliction. This problem is evident in the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Bangladesh is one of the most populous and poverty stricken countries in the world. This problem is hampering the trend of improvement and progress in every sphere of national life. Therefore, in the current context, poverty alleviation program is one of the most discussed issues.

The concept of poverty: Poverty is a relative issue. It is not possible to define it precisely. The nature and indicators of poverty vary from place to place and time to time. Literally ‘poverty’ means scarcity, deprivation or inadequacy. In other words, poverty refers to a situation where people cannot meet basic needs while maintaining minimum standards. Lack of financial means is not able to meet the necessary expenses like food, clothing, shelter, medical treatment. The nature of poverty is measured in two ways in social and economic indicators. These two indicators are made up of daily per capita food intake and income. In the food intake index, those who consume less than 2122 kcal per day are below the poverty line. And those who get less than 1805 kilocalories of food are the victims of extreme poverty. On the other hand, the poverty limit provided by the World Bank as per capita income is ড 2 per day. This means that those who cannot earn a minimum of ড 2 a day live below the poverty line. And those with a daily income of less than 1.25 per capita are below the extreme poverty line.

Poverty situation in Bangladesh: Extreme poverty was the main problem of war-torn Bangladesh after independence. A direct example of this is the famine of 1974. From this time onwards, all the development activities of the government started revolving with the priority of poverty alleviationAlthough various Five Year Development Plans and Poverty Alleviation Strategies (PRSPs) have given utmost importance to poverty alleviation, the current poverty situation in Bangladesh is not satisfactory. According to various sources, the percentage of the population living below the poverty line is declining, but the total population of the poor has not decreased, but has increased. According to the 2013 Economic Survey, the percentage of the population living below the extreme poverty line is 15 percent, which was 31.5 percent after independence. The Bangladesh government has taken a plan to turn the country into a middle income country by 2021One of the long-standing problems of the people of Bangladesh is poverty. Bangladesh's efforts to alleviate poverty are also commendable. But even then the expected success of this problem is not coming. That is why thousands of social, economic, political and cultural problems are gripping our country. Therefore, it is possible to alleviate poverty in the country by achieving economic growth through the adoption and implementation of various programs for poverty alleviation
