Neem English name Neem, scientific or botanical name Azadirachta indica A.Juss., Family Meliaceae. Neem is called Nimb, Vepa, Tamar and many more. Neem is one of our special beneficial friend trees. The popularity of neem has been going on since time immemorial. Neem leaves to bark, roots to flowers, fruits to seeds are all essential. The quality of neem is incomparable. Neem is a very fast growing tree. Neem is a perennial medium type evergreen tree. It can grow up to 15 to 20 meters tall in adulthood. However, in dry places, the foliage behaves like a tree. Trees are usually up to 60-70 cm in diameter at the base. The color of the bark of a tree or thick stalk is dark and uneven but the color of a relatively young stalk is brown. The bark of the tree is relatively thick. Compound leaves 30 to 35 cm long grow up and down around the stalks. Each leaf has 10 to 18 edged sheets. Each leaf is 6 to 8 cm long. The leaves can contain both even and odd numbers of sheets. The leaves grow throughout the year. However, most of the leaves fall off in spring. Rainfall of 450 to 1150 mm is good for neem trees. However, even where there is less rain, neem grows very well, as evidenced by the plain of Arafat in the holy city of Saudi Arabia. Neem is drought tolerant. Neem fruit is a favorite food of birds. When the neem fruit ripens in the rainy season, many more birds including storks come and gather in the neem tree. Neem is the sacred tree of the Hindus. Neem has been known to exist in the Indian subcontinent since 5,000 years before the birth of Christ. Although people have known about the properties of neem since ancient times, scientific research on neem has started recently. Research on neem in the Indian subcontinent began in 1942. Research in the Western world began much later. Research on neem began in the United States in 1982. At present there is a huge interest in neem among the people. People's interest in the use of neem and its cultivation is increasing day by day.

Neem is found all over Bangladesh but is more common in the north. It is said to have originated in Bangladesh, India and Myanmar. This tree grows in Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Malaysia, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. At present, various species of neem trees are scattered all over the subcontinent, including the tropical and humid regions. We are proud of the tens of thousands of neem trees in Bangladesh at Arafat Maidan in Saudi Arabia. Seed collection and seedling lifting and sowing: Usually in our country seeds are collected between June and August at the beginning of monsoon. However, seeds can be collected before or after. Numerous small fragrant white flowers can be seen on the mature neem tree in April-May. Yellow oval mature fruits are available in June-July, the fruits are 12 to 18 cm long. Each fruit contains one seed. The skin of the fruit is spread and dried in the shade and sown in pot soil within 3 weeks. Seed sowing can be started from June 30. Seedlings germinate within 8 to 10 days of sowing. Seed germination rate is 60 to 70 percent. Seeds can be planted in nursery beds, polythene or directly in the ground. Seed germination can be increased by soaking the seeds in cold and lukewarm water. It is better to plant 1 year old seedlings. Good results are obtained by pruning the stems as required before planting. It is better to plant the seedlings in September. In 45 cm wide and wide holes 25-30 kg organic manure, 50 g TSP 50 g MOP should be mixed well with the soil and seedlings should be planted. After planting the seedlings must be given regular and moderate water to sustain the seedlings. The ground should be raised at the beginning and the fence should be fenced with cages. Special care should be taken until the people are equal in height. Care should be taken so that weeds do not grow.

Neem trees are more common in open spaces. Neem trees grow on all types of soils around roadsides, in flat lands and in temperate climates. However, in sandy, loamy soils are good. The neem tree blooms from March to May. When neem fruit ripens from June to August, seeds have to be collected. Seeds should be sown in bags or earthen pots within 2/3 weeks of collection. If sowing is delayed, germination rate decreases. Neem seedlings should be planted in the main land when they are 1 year old. The land to be planted should be weed free and clean. However, the rainy season is a good time to plant neem saplings. The base of the tree should be raised so that the pony does not freeze. The fence should be fenced off immediately after planting so that the seedlings are not damaged by the attack of animals and humans. Neem scale insects and fungi cause severe damage. If there is a problem, you have to follow the advice of experts.

Method of collection and preservation: The leaves should be collected, cleaned and dried in the sun. Then if the moisture content of the leaves decreases and it becomes darker in color, it has to be packaged. Leaf packets must be marketed with proper identification usage. Neem fruit ripens in June-August. Seeds should be collected when they are mature. However, if the tree is tied with a thick net so that it does not fall to the ground, it will be possible to save all the seeds. In this condition the seeds should be washed and dried in the sun. In this case the humidity should be 2 percent. After drying the seeds should be collected in airtight packets. Neem bark should be cut into pieces. After that, it should be washed well, dried in the sun, protected from moisture and airtight.

Medicinal properties: The subcontinent's well-known name is neem spring and the world's best as an air purifier. In East Africa this tree is known as Maurobini. Because many diseases are cured with this tree. Blood cleansers, disinfectants, dermatitis, bronchitis, worms and wounds get rid of many more ailments. Inflammation of the body, allergies and bad breath. Stops bleeding of teeth and strengthens gums. Moreover jaundice sedative. Centuries of history testify that at least 50 diseases can be cured with neem. Some of the notable diseases are-

- Blood cleansing and skin diseases: 10 grams of raw neem leaves are boiled in 2 cups of water and 1 (one) cup is left to be sifted and mixed with sugar as required. This rule should be taken 2 to 3 times a day, regularly for 1 to 2 months;

- To get rid of worms, take 3 to 6 grams of crushed neem bark with a small amount of sea salt on an empty stomach in the morning to prevent worm infestation. Must be taken regularly for 1 week. In case of children 1 to 2 grams should be taken;

- Scabies and old wounds can be cured by crushing a little raw turmeric with neem leaves and using it on the affected area in the form of a poultice for 8 to 10 days; scabies and old wounds are relieved;

- The main use of neem is itching or scabies in skin diseases. Neem leaves or bark are applied on the skin for 3/4 consecutive days and after 2 hours take a bath and it gets better. Boil the bark in water and take a bath with water but the same benefit is obtained. In these cases, root bark is more useful than tree bark. In addition, the leaves are cut into small pills, dried in the sun and eaten once a morning to cure scabies. The same benefits are obtained by frying neem leaves in a pan and playing with rice;

- In case of smallpox, the patient is protected from infection as a disinfectant while lying on the bed of neem leavesFor its antiseptic properties, neem leaves are used to treat various complex skin ailments, including burns, eczema, scabies, and dandruff.

- 1 part of crushed neem leaves, 2 parts of crushed raw turmeric and 3 parts of dried mango powder are mixed together and 1 gram of it is taken every morning to cure allergies;

- In case of fever, 250 mg of crushed neem leaves mixed with honey along with one or one and a half Rati Makardhwaj is reduced;

- If there is a wound in the gums of the teeth due to bile disorder, it can be reduced by applying neem seed oil;

- When neem leaves are cut and applied to boil, it ripens, then dries;

- Eating fried neem flowers in Ratkana disease will cure it slowly;

- In case of liver or liver pain, mix 1 gram of turmeric with half a gram of raw turmeric and 1 gram of mango powder together and eat it every morning on an empty stomach, the pain of liver and liver will be cured effortlessly;
