Earth stagnated in coronavirus conditions. Many have lost their livelihood. Millions of low-income people are struggling to control the world. In this time of Corona disaster, many have been forced to find alternative employment.

Minu Mia, 65, a day laborer from Kuchiati Paschimpara village in Madan upazila of Netrokona, is one of them. He has been selling kites for the last three months as he was forced to work as a day laborer. His family is going on with that.

Minu Mia said in her own words, “Before, I used to run my family by doing daily wage work. But after giving lockdown a few days ago, I became unemployed. Tahan Dehi, many people are spending their time flying hobbies. So I also make a hobby and fly for a few days. Aida Deikhya, a villager, asks her to make a ghuddi for her baichchar. Let's make the wire. Later O pays a few taha (money) of expenses. After Eider, the thought of Ghuddi's business came to mind.

Minu Mia said that she learned the art of making kites in her childhood. In the last three months, he has made and sold at least 400 kites, big and small. He can make four or five types of kites.

Most of these are Telangana, post kite and box kite. Depending on the size, the price of each kite varies from two and a half to one thousand rupees. In addition, many people are making large size kites by order. They cost a little more.

He does not use paper to make kites as it is rainy season. Made with polythene paper. This makes the kite durable. Wet in the rain is not wasted. Do not tear in the air. In addition to polythene, bamboo and yarn cost a little more. Except for this small cost, it is entirely for profit.

"Even after the lockdown, I don't go to work for fear of corona." The cost of the family is running high, ”said Minu Mia.

Not only the residents of Madan Upazila, but also many people from far and wide are coming and collecting kites from him.

Abdul Awal, a resident of Jahangirpur village in Madan, said, “Not only Minu Mia, but many others like him are making and selling kites. There has been a huge demand for kites since the Corona situation arose.

After the announcement of the lockdown in the Corona situation, when people suddenly became housebound, the huge kite-flying festival started in various towns and villages of Netrokona. It has continued even after the lockdown was lifted.

Kites are being made in the city-village neighborhoods through competitions. Hundreds of colorful kites are flying not only during the day but also in the night sky. Many are transforming the 'traditional kite' into a 'digital kite' with the help of electronic technology. Adding a colorful electronic lamp to a kite frame with the help of a mobile phone battery.

This makes each kite look like a bright star in the night sky. Colorful light shines brightly. Not only youngsters, but also men and women are participating in the kite flying festival. They are flying kites to get rid of the monotony of being under house arrest. Doing endless lazy time.
