The mountain has been a sign of mystery to man for thousands of years. This beautiful peak has remained exactly the same year after year… !!
After Allah sent Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) from Paradise to the world, he came to the ‘Serendiwi’ of present day Sri Lanka with the help of angels. The island is located between the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. The hill can be seen from 25/30 miles away. The highest point along the middle of this mountain is the footprint of the first man on earth, Hazrat Adam (AS).
In Sri Lankan language, it is called ‘Sri Padaya’ which means holy footprint. This mountain is very much like Jabale Noor in terms of appearance. It seems to be an island completely isolated from the earth. The island floats in the rain and clouds for four months of the year.

In 1903, an iron railing was made of stone stairs to climb the hill with footprints. So that tourists do not have to get any kind of speed to climb the mountain.

When Hazrat Adam (AS) descended this mountain and first put his ‘right’ foot.
There are rumors in Sri Lanka that after descending the mountain, Hazrat Adam (AS) stood on his right foot for 100 years. For 100 years he did not put his left foot on the ground. Even then he is the only human being in the world.

Hazrat Adam's feet are 5 feet 6 inches long and 4 feet 6 inches wide. The Sri Lankan government has built a four-cornered building to preserve this blessed footprint. There is a solid iron gate to enter.
The most surprising thing is that the right footprint of Hazrat Adam (AS) turned towards the Ka'bah, that is, towards the Holy Ka'bah.
Interested tourists and common people consider this footprint island as a place of pilgrimage. That is why thousands of tourists flock here for the rest of the year without rain; Go there in the hope of gaining special purpose.
There, the tourists naturally worship, adore and worship according to their respective religions. There is a bell. People of different religions give home 36 hours a day in the hope of fulfilling their desires, especially Buddhists.
Since Sri Lanka is a Buddhist and Buddhist-ruled country, ringing bells there is considered a special form of worship. The Sri Lankans consider the footprints of Hazrat Adam (a.s.) to be a great blessing from the Creator; They are always active in its maintenance.
About 60 percent of Sri Lanka's population is Buddhist and 7 percent Muslim. However, the mountain is very sacred not only to Muslims, but also to Christians, Hindus and followers of Buddhism.

The hill is now known as Adams Peak. Climbing this mountain is very risky. The way to reach the top of the hill is through the deep forest. That jungle is dangerous in many ways. However, there is a metal staircase near the top. It has 4 thousand steps. It takes at least 12 to 18 hours to reach here.
The mountain can be climbed for only three to four months in a year. It is impossible to climb at other times of the year. Because, this mountain then hides in the clouds. Clouds lined the area, making the mountain invisible.
Marcus Oxland wrote a book about these hills and mountain footprints. The book is titled The Secret Footprint in Cultural History of Adam's Peak.
It is said that the mountain is 2243 meters high. The shape is like an angle. The mountain has been a sign of mystery to man for thousands of years. This magnificent peak has remained intact year after year. Its beauty has not faded so much. This is why the peak is known as sacred to the people of the world.
