In these kinds of questions, an Atheist would be baffled at some sort. An atheist only has a lack of belief in God. This question poses an interest which will be explained at some point in this review.

The purpose of your life, is what you will assign it. The purpose of life is not on the end, which is the heaven or hell. It is when we live our life.

Imagine a car. Someday that car will rot, will be filled with rust and continues to disintegrate. But that car has a life before which the car has served its utility to transport.

The value of life is on living it. It is not on the end.

Imagine, you are in a marathon. Many people would have joined. Many are eagerly want to win the Golden Medal. It is their main purpose, to win the medal.

Some theists wants this kind of purpose. Surrendering their life just to achieve the eternal heavens. Even devoting their majority of their life for this purpose.

Atheists on the other hand, don't even care if there's a reward or punishment in the end of their lives as there are no evidences of the afterlife. Some atheists believe that this life on earth is the only thing we have. That we must cherish it. 
Like in the marathon, we must enjoy the run.

The value of life for Atheists is not absurd nor irrational. It tells us that there is nothing in the afterlife, means you must enjoy your life today. Not kind of bad enjoyment where you would kill somebody for fun. But an enjoyment which everyone and anyone will be satisfied in your life.

Some theists worships a God just to get into heaven. Dedicated their lives because of these heavenly fantasies. Some are just inviting you to their church because it assures them that they too will be saved. It causes unnecessary panic. Imagine, all people acting that way, wants to please their Gods just to get into the heaven. That reasoning is irrational.

If you could get into the heaven that way, well you can 'sincerely' ask forgiveness to your sins and you will be forgiven. Then commit suicide thereafter. There's no such thing in the Bible that you can go to hell by killing yourself. You can't find any verse about it. Good luck finding the heavens.

The purpose of life is also something you can do to your neighbor, to others. Your family, friends and to yourself. It depends on what you bring unto this world. You can give something meaningful to other people. You can help other people, with or without beliefs of God. Even a criminal can give meaning to your life.

These people that you've interacted and if you give something meaningful to them, you will be remembered. Your thoughts, emotions, and the compassion that you give to them. They will remember it even when you are dead. You must celebrate your life as your life. 
Not giving your life for the purpose of 'unsure' afterlife which we have no evidence of. It is arrogant to think that we may be rewarded of eternal life when we die. It is just an escape of a scary feeling of DEATH.

3.0 Another thoughts

There's no such thing as afterlife. Let alone heaven and hell. There's nothing beyond in this universe. That what makes life so precious in the eyes of an Atheist. 
That's why Atheists don't kill someone because killing someone will lose their only chance to live. 
That's why Atheists don't intentionally hurt someone.
That's why Atheists have morals.

Because, life is life. It is the only thing we got. We only got once chance to live.
This life has a value because you give it a value, your family gives it a value, your friends gives it a value and other people gives it a value. Life indeed has a value even if you're an Atheist.
