Giving up is okay.
We generally consider giving up as taboo and a sign of weakness. If we see someone give up on a job or give up on a romantic relationship with someone, we perceive them as weak and lacking mental fortitude. We have this perception that every one should endure and persevere with whatever they’re going through no matter how tiring and taxing it is not only on our body but also on our mental health, which is wrong.
We should always prioritize our Mental Health over anything else. Giving up to prioritize your Mental Health should not be a bad thing. Take your time to mentally recover from the scars and pains you’re going through. Take your time to heal. Giving up on a job is okay. Giving up on a toxic relationship is okay. Giving up on trying to fix a broken household is okay. If those things have only been detrimental to your well-being and mental health, then drop it. Do not be afraid to give up. Prioritize your mental health above all else.
Some would say that you can’t give up on your job if you’re poor because you don’t have much of a choice. I would say that you always have a choice. You can find a new job that is not toxic and where you can enjoy the environment more and the people around you. Free yourself from all of the toxicity surrounding you. You always have a choice to think of your well-being first.
It’s always good to have a support group you trust whom you can be vulnerable with. It’s one of the most effective ways to relieve your stress and alleviate the emotional trauma you’re currently experiencing.
Taking a break and going out by yourself also works. Treat yourself with a meal you’ve always been craving for. Watch a movie alone. Go on a road trip alone. Have a relaxing massage. Do any of these things and you’ll know how liberating it feels. It’ll do wonders on your mental and spiritual well-being.
It’s never too late to take care and prioritize yourself over anything and anyone else. Enduring the pain and hardships you’re going through may not always be the answer to every situation you’re going through. Sometimes, giving up, taking a break and coming out stronger than ever before with a mental fortitude tougher than a wall made out of the sturdiest stone is the solution you’ve been looking for all along.
