Who doesn't want to go to beach and unwind? I, myself love to go on a beach to relax but was afraid to get some sunburns. I always apply sunscreens which is prescribed by a dermatologist before going out there to have some fun.

We all have heard about beliefs and myths about sun protection and I think that i'ts better to give it an explanation so when you go to the beach, you will not worry for aything.

So for today, we're going to be talking about some common myths about sun protection.

You can't get a sunburn on a cloudy day

Even on a cloudy day there's still UV that's coming through that can still give you a sunburn and cause damage to your skin. So you want to make sure to protect yourself even when there's clouds overhead

Tanning is okay

There's no such thing as a healthy tan. If your skin is tanning, it means that there's damage that's being done to your skin. A few years ago, there was a saying from the Skin Cancer Foundation which was "go with your own glow" and that means no matter what color skin you were born with, you can make it look naturally healthy and beautiful by protecting it from sun damage. If you do want your skin to look tan, i think it's safer to do that with a spray tan then making your skin tan from the overhead sun.

Tanning beds are safe

Tmmkning beds are not safe and they're definitely not safer than tanning from the Sun. tanning beds have high amounts of intense UV radiation and we know that radiation damages your skin and we know that it increases your risk for skin cancers including melanoma.

Sunscreen is all you need

Sunscreen is only one piece of your sun protection plan. it's important to remember other ways to protect your skin firs. So first thing you want to avoid, the middle of the day. That's when the Sun is really strong, its directly overhead and the most likely time that you're going to burn. So try to go to the beach in the earlier or later parts of the day when you're at the beach. seek the shade sit under the umbrella or other shady places. remember to wear protective clothing, wearing a hat with a brim gives you good shade on your face. Wearing a shirt is so important because that will cover your chest your shoulders and your upper back. Those are places that people often forget and they often burn.

Melanoma can happen anywhere on the body

This is actually true. mlmelanoma can happen anywhere on the body. The most common spot for melanoma in men is the back and for women is the like melanoma happens on like on the body that have had burst in the sun. Fsmly first before doing anything else. For example, he might be sitting indoors all day most of the year but you go on vacation and you get a bad sunburn on your back... I think it's these bursts of sun exposure that cause melanoma.

Staying indoors is the only way to protect yourself from the Sun

You don't have to be a vampire to protect yourself against sun damage. You can still go outside, you can go to the beach and have healthy outdoor activities as long as you do it in a way that's safer for your skin.
