Mangifera altissima; a tree in the family Anacardiaceae, it is found in Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, and the Solomon Islands

Paho is a kind of variety fruit of mangoes and it's also the smallest in its kind, it has a pungent smell of unripe mango and sour taste
This trees and fruit almost found in Laguna and Batangas area. Most people prepare it as salad dish with different toppings
In Laguna and Batangas, PahoĀ are eaten as it is, dipped in salt.Ā PahoĀ are made into salad, mixed or tossed with chopped tomatoes and onions, flavouredĀ Ā with either salt, fish sauce orĀ bagoong na Isda. In Batangas they useĀ Bagoong Balayan, orĀ patisĀ from Sinaing na Tulingan
Here are Some Simple Paho Salad Recipe
Ingredients:
12-15 pieces paho, slice of from the seed, sliced into thin strips
3-5 Salted egg slice in cube
6-10 small to medium sized tomato sliced in thin
1-2 medium sized onion, peeled, sliced
2-3 tabs. bagoong na isda, bagoong Balayan (optional)
2-3 long green chili or red hot chili optional, chopped or sliced
Methods:
In the big bowl mix's all sliced pieces of Paho, salted egg, tomato's, Onion's and green or red chili.
Toast and mix well, add some bagoong balayan(optional) if you want some salted fish flavor
You can also chill it in refrigerator for some chilled salad
After mixed ready to serve
