Success story of landless Alfazul Alam Alfazul Alam of Although landless, he has cultivated fish and orchards on about 150 bighas of land. His son Akherul Alam, an expatriate from America, has returned to the country and is closely monitoring these agricultural projects run by his father at six points in different areas of Natore. Hundreds of workers of the area regularly work in these projects. One third of whom are women. There are also a number of people with disabilities. According to the locals, the eldest son of Tamiz Uddin Contractor of Nichabazar area of โโNatore city was burdened with a debt of around Tk 4.5 lakh. At that time, on the advice of the neighbors, he went to Ekdala in the suburbs, bought a small plot of land and started a fertilizer business. A few days later, he started fish farming in Ekdala and later in Baravita Bhuyapukur on a government water lease. He succeeds in everything. After that the lease of the fake pond was canceled but he started fish farming again with the lease of 20 bighas in Ekdala Bhata pond and 18 bighas in Jalarakandi. At the same time, he planted gardens on 19 bighas at Yugipara in Tamaltala of Bagatipara upazila, 23 bighas at Alaipur in Natore, 41 bighas at Bakshoghat in Sadar upazila and about 20 bighas on the back rail of Natore City College. In these orchards, various varieties of local and foreign fruits including Apple Cool, Thaikul, Baokul, Thai Guava, Kazi Guava, different varieties of Guava, Cardamom Lemon, Colomb Lemon, China Lemon, Vedana and Dragon Fruit are cultivated commercially. He also set up a nursery in Tebaria to collect tree saplings. By doing all this, he has achieved enviable success in the last 30 years. It is known that he does not have pen or book training. He talked to the farmers and went to the government office and took their advice and did all this with his workers. Farmer Alfazul Alam said that no one has succeeded in cultivating such fish in deep ponds. But he has got 60 manas per bigha by cultivating foreign coyote fish in 15 to 18 feet deep ponds. Only eight fish have weighed one kg. These are the records of this region. He has succeeded in cultivating different types of cool and guava and now he has also succeeded in cultivating improved varieties of lemon, bedna and dragon fruit. This time he has started cultivating dragon fruit commercially. He is selling dragons from his garden at Rs 400 per kg. Seeing the demand for this foreign fruit, he has increased its cultivation. The wind of change is also changing in his family with the change of time. He sent his youngest son Akherul Alam to America to study. Although he started working there, he returned to the country to attend to these agricultural projects intensively, respecting his father's wishes. Eldest son Atiqul Alam and younger brother Md. Shahidul Alam have also been involved in the project of this landless farmer Alfazul Alam. Alfazul Alam, a landless farmer from Natore, thinks that farmers, unemployed and frustrated people across the country can be followed by Dr. Natore's Deputy Director of Agricultural Extension. Alhaj Uddin Ahmed and Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer. Saiful Alam.
