The existence of anything in life has a purpose. Whether animal, plants, microorganism or non-living things; they all exist for a particular function or purpose or reason. There may be several reasons but there is a major focus that orchestrated the existence of anything, either living or non-living, seen or unseen and physical or spiritual. They all make up what the world is today. However, we are much convinced about the impact of our physical world than our spiritual or divine world. There is a popular saying, ‘The spiritual controls the physical’. The bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:4, “the god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” This blindness is not a physical one but a spiritual one that cannot be noticed with the ordinary physical eyes. This blindness is spiritual. This spiritual blindness is one of the major tactics of satan in fulfilling his plans or purpose for our lives. But what is the plan or purpose of the devil?
In John 10:10 Jesus Christ said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…”. First of all, it is important to know that Jesus Christ classified Satan as a thief. This classification is important to understand and Jesus Christ called Satan a thief because of his purpose of existence as the devil. Like Jesus Christ said, Satan is a thief because he steals the souls of men, kill the souls of men and destroy the souls of men. These are phases the devil will deal with anyone in his custody.
The first the devil does is to steal the soul of a man. This means that the devil takes what does not belong to him without permission. Many at times, this could be by making sure that a Christian sin against God. When a Christian sins against God without repentance, the devil has gained access to steal the soul of that Christian. At this time, the devil has the leverage to deal with such person as it pleases him.
Secondly, the devil begins to manipulate the soul of such person in other to do according to his bidden. The person who was formerly a Christian now commits all manner of immoralities and sinful behaviours which might be out of his control because he or she is under the manipulation of the devil. At this point, we can say that the devil has killed the soul of the person.
Thirdly, the next line of action is destruction by the devil. If the person refused to return back to Jesus Christ through repentance, the person is likely to be destroyed. Here, I classified this destruction in two parts: Physical destruction and Spiritual destruction. The physical destruction is when the devil destroys the physical body of the person by physically killing him; which is causing him to die and his body decays back to dust. The spiritual destruction is the eternal destruction. Here, the soul of the person is cast into the lake of fire as an eternal judgment by God. The bible speaks about what happens to those who undergo spiritual destruction. In Revelation 21:8 the bible says, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death”. Jesus Christ also described what shall happen to those who have spiritually destroyed. In Matthew 8:12, the Jesus Christ said, “But the Children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth”.
Having known these, it is important to flee from all forms of sinful behaviours if you do not want to be cast away into outer darkness or the lake of fire where there will be burning with brimstone and fire and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Flee from all unrighteousness and repent of all sinful behaviours. Give your life to Jesus Christ today by saying this prayer with me:
“Heavenly Father, I am so sorry of my sinful behaviours. I repent of all my sins. Please forgive me and wash me with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. I confess you as my true father, true friend, Lord and personal Saviour. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I promise never to return to those sinful behaviours. Holy Spirit, You are my comforter, come into my life and please help me to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. Thank you Jesus saving me by the old rugged cross. In Jesus Christ name I pray. Amen.”
Congratulations for this bold step into this new life. The host of Heaven are rejoicing for your sake. Locate a Bible believing church or fellowship and remain committed in this new faith. God bless you.
