Many so-called Christians are still living in the pool of sin. Such Christian is not a true Christian and as such, is a breathing human being but living in sin. Living in sin involves being open to the dealings and manipulations of Satan. Such a human being is not far-fetched from been called a “Walking corpse” because the scriptures say that the devil has come to kill, to steal and to destroy (John 10:10). However, a true Christian is one who is a living human being but “dead” to sin. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Apostle Paul wrote in the scripture, Galatians 2:19-20 (KJV), “For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me” But the question is what does it mean to be “dead” to sin? This means that such a Christian is not responsive to the tactics of Satan.
This means that such an individual died with Christ and no longer live of himself. He or she is no longer the person he or she used to be. Even though his name is “John” but because the sinful nature is no longer functional in him, he is tagged as a CRUCIFIED MAN. A crucified man is one who does not sin even though the devil influences such evil act on him. Such Christian does not sin out of his own will but out of the will of Christ, through the Holy Spirit, that lives in him. This is most times the reason while one who is newly born again begins to transform into a new life in Christ Jesus. Like the scripture says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new”.
However, the fact that one is a new creature in Christ Jesus does not stop the devil from tempting such Christian. But God has created an escape route (according to 1 Corinthians 10:13 - KJV) for us all as Christians and that route is by living a Crucified life with Christ. The scripture says that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6 - KJV). How do you get crucified with Christ? First, you must give your life to Jesus. This means that you are born again by professing Jesus as Lord and Saviour over your life. If you have, then you may want to rededicate your life to Jesus. Secondly, you need to pray for an invasion of the Holy Spirit into your life. This is for the will of Christ to take total control of your will. Thirdly, it is important to totally abstain and flee from anything that will initiate sinful desires in you. Furthermore, it is important to study your bible consistently. Studying the Bible is different from just reading the bible. It is important to have a bible jotter for putting down important points especially God’s responses during personal or co-operate meditation. In addition, Prayer cannot be exempted from such crucified life. The bible says in Jude 1:20 (KJV), “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost”. One of the major spiritual activities you can use in living a crucified life is by living a life of Prayer. Prayer is significant in opening the spiritual chambers of our spiritual bowels. By doing this, sinful desires diminish from our hearts. The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV), “Pray without ceasing”. This means that we should pray without prayer vacations, and prayers break. In fact, it also means that we should pray at all times. A crucified life has no prayer time because he always prays round the clock and not just praying, but praying in the Holy Ghost.
