What is chiropractic?

The word chiropractic comes from a Greek word meaning "treated by hand." Chiropractic is the most popular branch of alternative medicine and it heals naturally, without medication and surgery. Chiropractic originated in the United States in 1895, and Dr. Daniel David Palmer is considered the founder of chiropractic.

Who is chiropractic for?

Chiropractic is for everyone. Its focus is the spine and the correlation of the vertebrae and the nervous system. Between the vertebrae come 31 pairs of nerves that innervate most of the organs in the human body and also control the arms and legs. When the vertebrae are displaced from their normal position, a condition called "subluxation", the pressure on the nerve coming out of that level occurs, the nerve then loses its function, and thus the organ that innervates that nerve. The pressure of a small night on a nerve is enough for that nerve to lose 60 percent of its function.

The goal of chiropractic is to relieve pressure from the nerves by removing subluxations in order to normalize the flow of impulses through the nerves, which results in better work of organs and tissues, greater mobility in the joints and a feeling of relief.

Who can do chiropractic?

In order for someone to practice chiropractic, he must be a doctor of chiropractic, which means that he must first complete basic studies in medicine or biology focused on human anatomy and physiology, and then enroll in postgraduate studies at the University of Chiropractic for 5 years. year.

Surrogate doctors, self-taught, and insufficiently educated people who dare to perform chiropractic procedures put patients at risk of catastrophic and irreversible consequences. The very fact that it is the spine, through which the spinal cord passes, which together with the brain forms the central nervous system, requires a huge knowledge of medical sciences, and especially diagnostics. Complications that can be caused by quacks range from breaking bones, tearing ligaments and stretching muscles to causing strokes and creating disability.

Chiropractic is a modern health discipline that in some countries has the status of a separate profession, in the USA, and in others it is part of official medical practice (for example in Germany). It is recognized in most of the most developed countries in the world, and today it is practiced in more than 100 countries. In America, Australia and Canada, chiropractic is the third most developed health profession, right after medicine and dentistry.

In order for someone to have chiropractic therapy, they do not need to have any symptoms. Unfortunately, in Montenegro, few people take care of their health when they have no symptoms. The chiropractor first takes a detailed medical history, which consists of a series of different questions, and then, depending on the need, approaches physical examination, orthopedic and neurological tests, reading images and reviewing blood tests. Upon completion of the examination, the patient receives advice for further treatment, or if necessary is referred for additional tests or a doctor of another specialty.

Chiropractic therapy is completely painless, even pleasant. The only inconvenience may be the sound that is heard during chiropractic adjustment. There are many chiropractic techniques, from quick adjustments to so-called decompression therapies, so one therapy can last from a few minutes to almost an hour. The length of treatment depends on the condition being treated, as well as the type of therapy. At our center, we very often combine chiropractic and physiotherapy, in order to achieve the best results for the patient. The cooperation of the patient is very important because the therapy is determined for each one separately, and certain therapies require resting at home or doing additional exercises.

Today's way of working also has its consequences, so computer-related jobs most often create problems in the cervical spine, and physical jobs in the lower back. Sometimes, a seemingly ordinary headache is a condition that is already for chiropractic because, most often, headaches are those that originate from the neck.
