Do you like fruits? Did you know that they are mostly a source of vitamins for our health? In my next publications I will be talking about some of them, but today I want to talk specifically about vitamin C and the benefits it has for our health.
What is vitamin C?
It is a vitamin that belongs to the water-soluble group and we can find it in a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Vitamin C is a source of antioxidants that helps the immune system protect itself from free radicals that cause damage to cells.
Some fruits and vegetables that contain vitamin C:
Since the body alone does not produce or store vitamin C, it is advisable to include fruits and vegetables in the daily diet such as: Oranges, lemon, kiwi, mango, strawberries, pineapple, watermelon, raspberries, blackberries, broccoli, cauliflower , paprika, tomatoes, spinach, cabbage, potato.
What are the functions of vitamin C?
• Helps to form scar tissue in case of wounds.
• Fundamentally in the absorption of iron in the blood.
• Helps maintain and repair cartilage and bones.
• Blocks the damage caused by free radicals due to its antioxidant power.
• Helps delay the aging process of the skin.
• Helps in the prevention of colds.
• Stimulates hair growth and strengthens nails.
Consuming vitamin C daily will help you strengthen your immune system and prevent diseases in the future.
