Behind every successful man, there is a woman, behind every successful footballer, there is a story of trials and tribulations, of loss and hope and tapping into their talent to score life’s goal. But, one person has silently stood firmly behind these stars, mothers. They owe them lives; here is a list of footballers whose mothers' lives, effort and prayer helped them to stardom and are excessively attached to their mothers.
1.Gabriel Jesus: Jesus's mother Vera Lucia is an important figure in his life. She calls him on phone before every game. When Gabriel Jesus was signed into Manchester city and he arrived England, he came with his mother and older brother along with two friends, he said he would have brought his whole neighborhood if only his mum permitted him. Both are very close and he respects her a lot.
His mother is in control of the girls he chooses to follow and also, the status of his relationship life. His mother feels he shouldn't be distracted and just focus on his young career. She is everything to him including his girlfriend. She is firmly in charge of his son's off-field life. She also banned him from smoking or drinking.
2. Eden hazard: Hazard's Mum, Mrs Carine Hazard also played football. She used to be a footballer and in fact, only stopped because she was pregnant of her first child. She was a striker who loved scoring goals and ended up playing in the Women's first division in Belgium. She was at the bernabaeu during the official unveiling of Eden Hazard's signing to Real Madrid CF.
They have been seen together many times during special occasions. Eden Hazard sometimes seek football's special advice from his mum Carine.
3.Paul Labile Pogba: The former world’s most expensive footballer of all time cherishes family moments, good haircut, social lifestyle, but his insistence on being a good son to Mrs Pogba can never be downplayed.
Pogba's mother, Yeo Yoriba is a prayerful and supportive woman who single handedly brought up her three sons.
The World Cup winner even took his mother to the 2015 Ballon d’Or ceremony in Zurich, where he accompany her down the red carpet as they both wore outrageous outfits.
4 Ronaldinho: Ronaldinho's mother is known by the names ''Dona Miguelina Elói Assis dos Santos'', but prefers to be called Miguelina. Miguelina was a door-to-door cosmetics saleswoman before returning to school to become a nurse.
She was always there for Ronaldinho Gaucho and showed him the way of the Lord as she takes him and his brother, Roberto to church every Sunday in Nazario.
The love of his mother was so dear in his heart so much that the only thing they heard Ronaldinho saying in the Paraguayan prison when he was arrested was a prayer for his mother.
5. Christiano Ronaldo: Christiano Ronaldo's mother Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro and Ronaldo's father, Jose diniz Aveiro, raised the footballer and his siblings in the Funchal parish of Santo Antonio.
Throughout Ronaldo's career, Maria has been more than a mother to Ronaldo, probably also a part of his strength.
But during the film documentary entitled ''Ronaldo'', she admitted that she considered having an abortion when she was pregnant with him.
In the film, she says: "He is a child that I wanted to abort. God didn’t want that to happen and I was blessed because of that and God didn’t punish me.
"Sometimes Ronaldo makes fun of me and says 'You didn’t want me to be born. But now you see that I’m here helping all of you.' And, well, sometimes we have a laugh about that."
