The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The best of you is the one who is best for his wife and children and I am the best for my family. And when your spouse dies, pray for him.” (Mushkoot Sharif page 282, Ibn Majah page 636)
Referring to the rights of the wife, the Holy Prophet said: "Feed them whatever you eat, clothe them as you clothe them, clothe them as you clothe them, do not beat them and do not speak ill of them." (Abu Dawud, Kitab al-Nikah, Bab al-Haq al-Marah, Volume 1, Page 291
The Holy Prophet (sws) said: "Man can attain the status of good morals which is attained by fasting all day and worshiping all night." (Sunan Abu Dawood, Kitab al-Adab, Bab fi Hasan al-Khalq vol. 2 p. 661)
