Wigan and Ma-i

Two thousand years ago, the towns of Banaue and Mayaoyao were in conflict. It was considered an honor to kill an enemy. About this time Wigan, son of the Banaue king Ampual, lived.

At one point, Wigan was hunting in the forest. As she made her way to a waterfall to rest, she saw a girl bathing. He was fascinated by its beauty but noticed that it was a foreigner and had no right to bathe in the land of Banaue.

Wigan would have killed the girl when a snake stopped her. He recognized that the snake was Lumawig, the god of heaven.

Instead of resuming the previous plot, Wigan accompanied the girl home. He learned that his name was Ma-i, son of the Maya king of Liddum. During their long journey, their romance developed.

Upon arriving at the Mayaoyao land, Wigan was immediately arrested. She is now a foreigner in the land of Ma-i.

Ma-i pleaded with her father. He recounted the incident.

"He may have killed me when he caught me bathing in his land but he was moved with pity. Instead, he accompanied me home safely in any harm. You have pity on him. maiden.

Liddum thought. His son's request was contrary to the wishes of the people of Mayaoyao.

"He will die if he cannot defend himself," the king declared. "Mayaoyao people, choose our best warrior to fight a young man from Banaue. The winner of the battle will be my son's wife."

The citizens of Mayaoyao agreed. They chose their best warriors to fight Wigan. The confrontation of the two has begun.

From Banaue, a hundred warriors came looking for their king's son. They see Wigan fighting. They are prepared to avenge it in the event of a defeat.

Fortunately, Wigan won and avoided the bloody reckoning of the Banaue and Mayaoyao warriors.

A canao (meal) followed. Ma-i presided over the wedding dance. The geese are blowing continuously. The festivities lasted for nine days.

Wigan and Ma-i, together with the Banaue warriors, made their way back to Banaue. While traveling, Wigan thought of his father. It is old and probably waiting for it to last. But he married without the consent of the father. Would it agree with what he did?

On the stairs of rice fields Wigan and Ampual met. The young man had prepared himself.

"In the beginning of making the eighth grade rice fields, that will be the year of my marriage. Father, here is Ma-i, son of the Maya king. His father Liddum and his people were kind to receive to me."

Ampual looked at Ma-i. Without even speaking, Wigan knew that the father understood him. While walking, Ampual thought about what he would say to the constituents. Everyone was happy to meet you. The king spoke to the Banaue people.

"I am old. Soon I will be with our ancestors again. Before that happens I want to see my son marry and ready to replace me. Here is a young lady from Mayaoyao. Banaue girls. , decide which one of you is the best we can count on from the previous shipments of Lumawig. From the two, my son and I will choose which one will be the best. . In return for the winner, his experience will be a legend to our children. "

The Banaue people choose the girl they will keep with Ma-i. When they made their choice, they all agreed that it was the best thing for the Banaue people.

The two girls were staying. The beauty in front of Wigan is indeed extraordinary today.

Asked Ampual.

"What is the name of a foreigner?"

"I can," Wigan replied.

"Do you agree that Ma-i is more beautiful?"

"Yes," Wigan replied cheerfully at the father's decision.

The king announces that Ma-i is the winner. The people rejoice. With pleasure, Ma-i said.

"I have a request, great leader of the Banaue. Let the girl I meet stay alive without shame. This is to make her experience a legend for our children."

Ampual granted Ma-i this request. The eighth grade of the stadium had begun and Ma-i and Wigan's wedding took place again. This was the beginning of the peace between the Banaue and the Mayaoyao which reached to the present day.
