Western civilization look to ancient greece as one of its revered ancestors. The greek philosophers in their love of wisdom speculated about the world, the human body, human society, the cosmos, etc.. And laid foundations for an attitude of seeking. Discovering and understanding human existence and the universe. Unfortunately the freedom of thought practiced in greek civilization was overturned some centuries later when religious authorities in tje Western world abrogated absolute power to themselves in the process. Authority became the basis for truth instead of truth being the authority it was science standing on the scientific method
