Becoming a parent is like learning a new language and it has stages. It's not easy, but it can be learned.
The first stage is learning the newborn language. From childbirth, a mother has to study his baby's facial expression. Facial expression will tell you a lot about your baby. A smiling face would have variety of meaning. Literally a smiling face means a happy baby, but for newborn it could just be a sign of passing gas. Crying is normal for babies. They cry when they are hungry. It could also mean they are hurt. So it is very important for mommies to be very keen when observing a baby. When a baby cries a lot, something must be wrong.
It's easy to assess a baby who smiles and cries, what about a baby who doesn't show any facial expression. Well, in this case, it could be a sign that the baby has some hearing problem. Not responding to voices may mean that the baby couldn't hear you.
