Ancient Sumerian tablets tell a story that humans were created by alien beings called the Anunnaki. These tablets date back to approximately 20000 years ago, and are translated by Zecharia Sitchin. The theory is this; the Annunaki came to Earth from planet Nibiru, which orbits our sun every 3600 years. They created us Homo Sapiens through genetic engineering of already existing primates native to Earth.
This theory has been met with criticism by many, as there is no concrete evidence to support it. However, some new genetic research may suggest that there is more to this story than meets the eye. A study published in the journal Nature Communications in December of 2015 looked at the genomes of 101 different populations around the world. What they found was that humans are not quite as genetically diverse as we thought. In fact, our DNA is remarkably similar, no matter where in the world we come from. This suggests that all humans share a common ancestor, which could be the Anunnaki.
The study's lead author, Harvard University professor David Reich, commented on the findings: "We were surprised by how little variation there was in the DNA across the world. It was clear that the history of humans is more complicated than we thought." Reich went on to say that the study's results could "rewrite the story of human origins".
For years, scientists have used fossils and artifacts to try and piece together the history of human evolution. However, this study suggests that we may not need these tangible objects to understand our past. Instead, it could be written in our DNA. "This research offers a new clue into how humans fit into the broader evolutionary picture,"
said Reich. While at this time there is no evidence to suggest that all humans are descended from extraterrestrial beings, one thing remains certain - the mystery of our own origins only deepens with each passing discovery.
So, what do you think? Did the Anunnaki create humans? Or are they just a myth? Let us know in the comments below!
Haha I think it's just a myth, but a cool one!
