The first step to achieving true happiness is to identify the core strengths you possess. You see, we all have these little things that make us unique. But most of us don't even know what they are, let alone how to use them effectively. Once you become aware of your strengths, you can start using them in everyday situations.
A good way to identify your strengths is by writing a list of things you like and dislike. This will help you understand what sets your heart at ease and what makes it beat faster. Our strengths come from the need we want fulfilled, and our core desires stem from that inner fire that drives us. By understanding and mastering this part of ourselves, we are one step closer to achieving happiness.
Once you have a list of your desires, write down the strengths you would need to fulfill those desires. For instance, if you desire more money, you might think it will bring you happiness. However, if that's not what brings true joy into your life, then the money won't be able to give it to you either. You must first know what truly makes you happy and then find ways to achieve that fulfillment before pursuing anything else in life.
So look over your list and find at least three things that make your heart swell with joy whenever they come up. These are your core strengths! Write them down so you can build upon this foundation later on.
Remember though, that we all have both strengths and weaknesses, so your list might contain some that you're not too proud of. Now is the time to get rid of those weaknesses, but don't worry: it's just a matter of exercising your core strength.
For example, if one of your core desired feelings is "I want people to like me," consider another way to convey your message such as "people will be honest with me no matter what."
Remember, keep an open mind when discovering these hidden strengths! If you find yourself stuck, ask yourself questions such as how or why. These will help guide you towards the answers you seek while expanding on what you already know. Once you determine that there is something holding you back from pursuing one of your desires, find a way to overcome it.
For instance, if you desire more friends and don't know how to make them, practice initiating conversations with strangers. If you want to be happier in your marriage but aren't sure why you're unhappy, take some time to better understand what's bothering you. Once you start overcoming your weaknesses, you'll feel a stronger resonance from within that radiates outwards into all aspects of your life.
So there are the steps I use whenever I want to discover my core strengths! It's really not that hard once you get going β plus there's nothing else quite like expressing the inner desires that drive us forward in life. Remember though: this is about exploring our innate selves. Don't ever let anyone pressure you into being something you're not. It takes a lot of courage to look within and truly understand who we are as individuals, but it's worth it as this is the first step towards achieving happiness.
Good luck and stay true to yourself!
Once we have found out what we are really good at, we should start building something up with it. Whether it is a hobby or a business, the main thing is we have to enjoy and find pleasure and happiness in it.
