Do you find yourself feeling less interested in things that used to be really important to you? It’s a common problem, and it can have a significant impact on your quality of life. Luckily, there are ways to help get your interest back! In this article, I’ll share some of the most effective strategies to boost your interests. Let’s get started!
Start With What You Have
If you want more excitement in life but don't know where or how to find it then start with what you already have going on in your life. Maybe there's something new from the last month that has been exciting for you go back and find it! Think of ideas and activities that you already enjoy, but haven't done in a long time. For example: If you like watching movies, think about the last movie you watched and all the good memories you had from it. Go see another movie to recreate those same feelings or even better ones!
Go To Your Happy Place
Remember your favorite moment ever? Think back to what was going on just before that moment, right after it ended, and how satisfied and fulfilled you felt. Now do something that will create those same emotions again and make yourself happy! Open up your journal and write down 3 things (or more) that made you really happy recently and why they brought happiness into your life. Then be sure to make time for at least one of them in your daily life. This is a big tip that will open up the door to finding interests and passions that may have been lost or buried for a while.
Do Something New
Whether it's learn something new, trying something different, experiencing something completely unique, or meeting someone you've never seen before; we can always use more fun and excitement in our lives! When was the last time you did anything outside of your routine?
It could be anything like taking a break from social media and hanging out with friends instead, working on a project instead of watching TV every night, or finally trying sushi even though you don’t know how to roll it yet. Try living an exciting day-to-day life by intentionally seeking out new things.
Create Your Own Personal Bucket List
This is a list of things that you want to do before you die or lose interest in life. They should be exciting, meaningful, and something that gives you a sense of purpose. Sure it's daunting to try to come up with 100 unique items on the list but focusing only on having fun may help you find some interests or even passions! And if anything at least putting together an exciting bucket list can make your overall quality of life much better.
Take A Break From The Mundane
Sometimes we get so busy with our daily jobs, responsibilities, errands, etc...that we forget how good it feels to have fun! We need time away from the boring stuff just as much as we need time with the exciting stuff. So when all of your tasks for the day are completed, kick back and do something you enjoy or something that is new to you.
Ask Yourself:
What's one thing I've always wanted to try but haven't yet?
Where can I take my next vacation?
Who can I talk to this week who will make me laugh, think, or learn something new?
Why not call them today?
Where can I volunteer in my community that's fun and challenging at the same time instead of another mundane workday at an office job?
Keep an open mind about possibilities!
Take A Step Back And Really Think About It
Do you regret not doing anything important during your day? Are you happiest when you're with your friends? Do you like to write about the things that make you smile and feel good? Is there anything that frustrates or angers you on a daily basis? If any of these questions resonate with you then it's time to find out if those feelings, thoughts, and passions could turn into something bigger.
Ask Someone You Trust
Asking for another person's input can help bring some clarity to our own thoughts, as well as provide some new ideas we may not have thought of before. There are endless possibilities out there people different from us can suggest activities or even lifestyles that we may have never considered! Find someone who is creative, supportive, and will give honest feedback without holding back anything.
Now it's time to take action!
Choose at least one of the suggestions in this article, if not all of them, and start finding some new ways to spend your time or make positive changes in your life. You'll be glad you took the time to find something that matters when you look back on each day with a smile instead of regret.
Good luck in your journey!
This is absolutely right. I noticed that I felt like I lost interest in something, then I remembered how much joy I found in it earlier. So I started again and I still like it. Sometimes other things can drive you away from things you like.
