In search of a lost alphabet
Hi how are you all?Hope you are doing just fine.Wishing you a very good morning.Today I've come with a new article.
Here I'm going to tell you about a lost alphabet. In our childhood we have studied 26 English alphabet. But do you know that there were more than 26 alphabets and some of them are lost forever?Today I'm going to reintroduce an English alphabet that was lost few centuries ago.
A language is a dynamic object. It is said that a language should have to go through some changes. If language doesn't change in its course it is said that it is a dead language.
Here is the picture of that lost alphabet.
In the previous years there were two "S" alphabets.
It was denoted as "long" "medial" "descending" and the "S" we are familiar with was known as "short" "terminal" "round s".
There were no written rules when to use the long "S" and when to use the short one.
*If a word has "S" in it than it will be long"S"
*If a word has two "S" than the first "S" will be short one and second "S" will be the long one.
I'll give you some examples of using the long "S"
See the writing of the name of this book.Paradise and lost see the spelling!
The use of long "S" in continued till 19th century.
If you find this article helpful than please give me a thumbs up.This means a lot to me.Thanks a lot.
Best wishes ❤️
