Scotland is one of the best tourist destination of Europe.Here are some interesting facts about this beautiful country.

1) Scotland is a part of UK and Great Britain.

If you have read my previous article you will come to know the difference between UK and Great Britain.

People are living in Scotland for a very long time.But officially it comes to existence in the middle ages under the King James VI.He then become king of England and Ireland too.

An official political union was shaped in the 1700s and its name was the Kingdom of Great Britain.

2) The Unicorn!

Every country has a national animal.Do you know what is the national animal of Scotland?A unicorn!

The mighty unicorn represents Scotland for a very long time and it also reflects perfectly the Scottish spirit.If you are in Scotland,you will surely feel like you've come to a mythical world!!!

3) Lots of Island

Another fun fact about Scotland,this is country of Islands you can say.It is said that Scotland has more than 900 islands of its own.

Can you imagine?Though all the islands are inhabitable,but they are very beautiful to explore.If you are in Scotland,never forget to visit very famous Isle of Skye.

4) Only two minutes flight!

Can you imagine?You have seat on a plane,the plane took off,you put your seatbelt on and then you just landed?

Yes this amazing thing is only possible in Scotland which is known as the world's shortest passenger flight.

The flight connects between two islands named as ( Westray and Papa Westray) which is just 1.7 miles long!! Amazing!

5) Birth place of Harry potter!

Though the creator of Harry potter, JK Rowling was born in England,she spent most of his time in Scotland.She has written all the books of Harry potter in Scotland.

If you are in Edinburgh,you will have a lot of Harry potter things to do!

6) Home of Loch Ness monster!

Scotland is also home of mythical creature and monsters too. Loch Ness monster,is the very well known Scottish legend.It is said it lives under Loch Ness.It is also said that,it was first sighted in 5th century!

7) Languages

In Scotland,three languages spoken officially.English,Scottish Gaelic and Scots are the three official language.

Scotland is a home of golf and home of castles too.

You will also enjoy Scottish Bagpipes,Highlands(Very pleasing to watch),Haggis(a traditional food) and very famous Scottish whiskey!A very fascinating country to spend the holidays!
